Battery suggestions....my '68 GTO
OK - I'm a retard (or lazy, or whatever) but what's a good battery for my GTO?
No AC, no radio, mild weather, direct drop in but I do NOT want an Optima battery; I think those look hideous. Thanks.

They may LOOK hideous, but they can save you from a fire when they flip over during a donut session!

I put in an Autozone 880 CCA battery in my 68 Bird with the new engine and it kicks azz so far. The engine catches on the first turn over from the starter every time.

Battery in trunk. Better handling, and Tends to last longer.

For lead acid batteries I go to Walmart because they are easy to exchange before the warranty runs out. Jim

I've used Sears DieHard batteries for years. They've never let me down.

They are not made in the US anymore, nor as good as they used to be according to the HAMB crowd...

There are just a few manufacturers these days, so I would look for the highest cca, longest warranty for the best price in the size you want. I usually end up with Deka/East Penn batteries - the Napa store near me is currently carrying their re-branded Legend batteries made by East Penn for a great price.
