SO, here I am in the middle of this restoration and I have upholstery companies telling me that they don't have stuff for the "post" cars.

Here's what I need: (from post car owners with original interiors)
Good pics, maybe some measurements of the rear bench seats (upper and lower) and the rear door panels

It would help me immensely to have some decent pics to work from.

To my knowledge there is no difference in the size of the seats in a post car. I'm building a 67 post GTO and am not aware of any differences in the rear seat. Haven't recovered it yet but it appears to be the same seat as the one in my 67 Tempest. Hope this helps.

The guys I'm talking to claimed that they did not have the measurements for a rear seat in a post car or the proper pattern. Just needing pics of the pattern of the rear seats and the rear door panels for a post car...

Anyone have some pics?

i thought the seats where the same in hardtop and post,i believe there diff in the verts

That's what I thought as well... Apparently there is some difference that I am unaware of... Anyway, I'm still needing some pics of post car rear seats and door panels...

2dr post coups used the same seats as the Hardtop.

I THINK the pattern on the seats is different from that of a GTO/LeMans based on memory but not sure.

Do you have the rear seats?

I have seat springs (old material is long gone). I purchased a lower rear from a board member but the material is front a different year and wrong color. The pattern has tight horizontal "ribs" vs the stock stuff I had was thicker vertical "stripes".. I had only taken quick snaps as I assumed that the GTO family being one of the most popular cars of all time would have every part I would need... Well, I was mistaken...

I was under the impression that the Post car is called the "Sedan" and that the non-post cars are called "coupe" or "hardtop" (I get these confused as they make no sense)

Anyway, I am being told by a interior shop manufacturer that they do not have the pattern or measurements to do a rear seat or door panel (which is part of what I need) for a 67 tempest custom 2dr.(Post) Hence, my fishing for pics...

Looks like the pattern of the seat covers is the same as the GTO....based on what I can find.

Awesome... Thanks! This is what I was looking for. As you can see, they are somewhat similar but the Tempest pattern has 2 sets of 6 tight vertical ribs and 1 thicker one whereas the gto has 3 sets of 5 tight vertical ribs with the outermost two have an extra thicker rib...

Also, I can just make it out but it seems that the GTO has horizontal ribs on the door panel vs. vertical ones on the tempest... (Do you have a fuller pic of the door panels?)

I think this is something I can show these folks.

Well, I guess it's back to square one....

Apparently it's shame on my for having a Tempest and not a GTO

In an effort to redo the complete interior on this 67 Tempest Custom (2dr) Post car, I have run into some issues...

Upon recommendation from nearly all the board members I contacted Legendary for my interior needs... Problem is my car has a split bench--- Apparently, there is not much demand for split benches so they don't offer upholstery for it. My understanding is that everything else is available.

So, I contacted PUI... They do make a split bench so I figured that life was good- that was until they informed me that they don't make the upholstery for the Tempest rear bench. Apparently, there is little to no demand for Tempest rear bench seats to be re-covered so it doesn't make financial sense to go through all the tooling effort if there will be no demand.

AAAAARRRGHHH! This is so freaking frustrating!

Can anyone here give me some advise or suggest an alternative? My goal has been
to finish the car as 100% close to factory stock as possible...I'm getting tempted to just sell it and buy a mustang or camaro so that I'll be able to find all the parts I need.... (Blasphemy, I know... Just really frustrated)

I don't blame you boost. I'd be frustrated too. Never knew those back seats were so different. Keep plugging away and you'll get where you're goin' sooner or later (hopefully sooner). Good luck.

I'm going to keep rooting around to see if I can find someone to fab up this interior for me... I think I will be able to purchase as much "correct" material as I need- If I can't get a manufacturer to make the stuff I need, maybe I can find an independent shop who can make the seat covers for me.


If any of you guys out there has suggestions or knows of a good upholstery shop, please post up...

Go the easy route and install a LeMans interior for the time being(if the car is drivable and you're just needing the interior to finish) and then focus on the Tempest fabric.

Or if the car is a long way from being done, continue to search Hemmings.com, here, and Craigslist for Tempest parts cars with decent interiors until you find enough to bring them to a shop so they can properly reproduce what you need.

LOL... You know, sometimes it just seems like I always pick the hard projects... It would be nice, for once, to have something go smoothly... (basic chevy and ford comes to mind- But NOOO, I have to be different and fiddle with Buicks and Pontiacs...)

If I would have known it was going to be difficult to get the interior done, I would have saved my old stuff. It was raggedy and smelly so I threw it out but I could have used it as a template for some new stuff...

I suppose trying to find someones old stuff might not be a bad idea. I will just need it for a template.

Off my '67 Tempest post coupe. I kept these after I cloned it into a GTO because they are good for a driver.

If you want 'em you can have them for the cost of shipping although I would have to find a suitable box.
