Default Overspray and unpainted factory aera's

Just starting this tread to document the factory overspray and unpainted arera's for future restorations, please post whatever pictures you have, great is you could add the month/year and factory.

Starting with my 08A -71 Lemans vert from the pontiac factory.

This is a great reference Espen! I'll need this especially under the hood when I get the GT painted. Thanks for posting.

Great stuff. Not only the over spray, but the wire routing on the floor is something only an unmolested car can illustrate.

Was hoping that others would post some pictures to and make a reference tread
Anyways, here are some pictures of where it looks like the rear of the dolly used in the factory was placed on my car.

Default 72 GTO underside

Here you go Loffen. These are shots of the bottom of my factory original 72 GTO. The car has only seen 2 winters and was dealer undercoated with a tar like substance. I chemically removed that tar in 2007. some overspray came off with the tar, but a lot survived.

Loffen, great reference thread.

Bill, yours has alot of color on the underside, even inside the driveshaft tunnel.

Here's some pics of overspray on my '70 09E Pontiac built Judge. I don't have any of the underside yet, haven't got it on the rotisserie. Honestly, I don't know if I will reproduce this overspray or not. It just looks so much cleaner (under the hood especially) masked off.

Don't have any photos handy here at work but I've noticed over many years that the P and B plants have very heavy overspray while the R and Z plants seemed to go on the cheap with paint. Don't have enough info on A and F.

The Fremont plant (Z) seems to have been the biggest culprit in cutting paint corners; Most I've seen had zero overspray on the rearmost floor brace and next to nothing on the floor pans inside and out. I've also noticed that that plant would not fully paint the roof fully on cordova top cars.

I always wondered if this was just individual plant habits or that the cars built for the North east were painted more carefully due to the rust issues up there?
