Well, after we finally got our schedules aligned I finally was able to interview the great Art Fitzpatrick for my GTO blog. He is a real gentleman and sharp as a tack at 94. We had a great conversation and spoke for about an hour and a half! The result is a very informative discussion of what went on behind one of the greatest ad campaigns ever. I am so proud of this entry to my site.
Please, please, after you read it, post a comment in the "Have your say" box at the bottom or subscribe to the blog. The blog is a class project and I am being graded on viewer responses! Thanks for all your support guys. Here is the link: http://www.mycardinalred.com/2012/07...nce=6e258dfd68

And I thank you Rick. I too enjoyed your chat with Art. That man has so much talent that it amazes the hell out of me every time I see one of his pieces of 'art'.

Very well done. However I believe he is not yet 94 until November.

Great job. Now get it published in HPP or Hemmings muscle machines.

Stunning artwork. Those PMD ads always been my favorite form of simplifying the product focus. Oh yea the 68 GTO ad is tops.
We had spacecraft artwork of a similar fashion: a fake starfield background(purple hue for art, nearly black hue for proposals, then the solar arrays were well definzed, then the spacecraft was a pencil drawing done on a drafting table, then carefully colored in by the graphic arts team. Still better than CAD views today.
