So, has anyone done this? Taken a 2004-2006 GTO and put a 65 body on it?
Its a idea that I have been toying with. Wheelbase is 5 inchs different. I can fix that. So thoughts anyone? Give it to me. Make me think. Bert

One of the TV shows did... West Coast Customs? Think they may have used a '70 body on the '04.
Lots and lots and lots of cutting, fitting, cussing and swearing to get it to fit, but a cool idea. |

Anybody have more info on this car?
Looks like they moved fenderwell back and extended rockers down.. A true side picture would be nice..

I have seen the car in person and it looks remarkable. The overall length was reduced to fit the new chassis so it looks a little different from the side. It does attract quite a crowd where ever it goes. The Man who owns it lives in Colorado and shows the car locally all the time.

My frame of thought right now is to lengthen the 2006 to the 65 wheelbase. That way it keeps the same look as the 65. I am trying to get in touch with the owner to pick his brain some on why he did what he did and what he would do different if he had it all to do again..

Check the wheelbase of a c5 or c6.

I spoke with the owner at the POCI convention in St Charles ILL. He did not change wheelbase, rather he relocated the wheel well in the front fender. He had a book of pictures. Car now has 35,000 miles on it. Looks great, but a lot of work. I intend to install the drivetrain out of a G8 into my 65 Lemans/GTO keeping all the original interior and guages.

I would have to have some serious $$$ in the bank and a year off to even consider doing something like that. But man is that cool!
