Hello all,

I introduced myself recently as someone that's looking to get a '74-'-76 TA 455 4-speed.

With these cars getting rarer and rarer....well, the chances of finding one in the classifieds near your house are few and far between. That means buying online. And if you're like me, while you do have some disposable income to buy a fun car...you don't have enough time and money to go flying all over the US to personally evaluate every car you find that fits your parameters.
Heck....gotta save SOME money for GAS, eh?


Anyway, I've heard there are services out there, you can pay to go check out the car for you. Can someone give me the lowdown on this?
Is it worth it? Are they honest? What all do they really check out? How much?

Recommendations if all the above are true?

Since the cars are so old I'm looking at...there's no such thing as a "Carfax" on them..so, wondering what you do when buying a car online or distant?

Also...how does it work...say I get financing...how do you handle do you handle it with title, etc.....if not there in person and having it shipped.

I'll ask later for shipping info...but any ideas and advice on this?

Welcome to the forums. The 'Members Helping Members' section is a great place to ask a fellow forum member to check out a car for you. With the number of worldwide members here, chances are pretty good that someone will be able to help if you find a car you are interested in. Most of the time you can get a decent opinion from someone who knows Pontiacs and also knows what to look for as far as codes, options, etc. Most members ask for gas money or meal money to make it worth their time. Spending a few bucks to find out a car is bogus or junk is cheaper than the 'long distance burn'. And there are unscrupulous sellers out there who capitalize on the long distances between them and the buyer. Good luck in your search.
