performer or performer rpm intake?
I have been running a performer for a few years, but also have a performer rpm intake that i have been saving for when i swap out my stock cam for bigger. I have been doing more bracket racing this year, and was just wondering your take on the performer? I had heard that a lot of guys dont like it on 455s. Just wondering because im tempted to throw the rpm on and see what happens. Heres my combo: 455, unported 6x heads, 9:1 cr, stock cam, 670 carb, headers, 3.08 gears. Car runs 14.2 at 92 mph.
Btw, my crossover on the 6x heads is leaking so i might be pulling the performer anyways.

Good time to test it and find out.
fwiw I ran an rpm on a mild 350...low rpm power didnt seem to suffer any and certainly better overall than the 2 barrel it replaced. |

Before you change the intake, take both intakes and separate the water crossover. They you can change intakes in mins.

The performer is basically an aluminum intake similar to a stock intake. The performer rpm is the improved version. It is also taller so you may have to make allowances for fit between your air filter and the bottom of the hood.
I ran the performer rpm for 17 years on my GTO......11.90's, 9:1 compression, 455.
