no power steering at idle
I have a 1969 GTO, I rebuilding. The car has been sitting for 18 years. I drained the fluid in the pump and replaced the lines, Now , I only have power above 2500 rpm. I have no Idea what I need to do , other than replace the pump. Trying to save money, project I'm working on with my sons. Thank for the help, I hope their is a simple solution. Mike

There is a Fitting on the backside of the PS pump that the high pressure line screws into. Remove that fitting making sure that you do not lose any shim washers (if any) under the fitting.
Clean that fitting and the parts under the fitting with spray solvent or brake clean spray. Reinstall the parts and try your test again. The control valve sometimes sticks if the PS pump has been setting a long time and it could be stuck partially open and bleeding off any hydraulic fluid at idle. Tom Vaught

Ok, Tom. When I replaced the line , I had to remove that fitting. I cleaned it and did not lose anything. Do i just need to get a replacement pump or go into this one? Thanks for the quick response.
