Hi all,

My '69 has a few dash grounding challenges... one with the wiper switch - so I was under the dash seeing what I could see and noticed one of the studs used to attach the wiper switch to the dash is broken off - been looking at pictures on ebay and here but I'm not clear on what part the stud is "part" of for lack of a better phrase.... It doesn't look like the stud is part of the metal dash itself, but also doesn't appear to be part of the trim plate or bezel.

I plan to pull the dash to fix some of the outstanding issues (gauges, etc) - but would like to line up a plan as much as possible before diving in.

On my 69 the studs are plastic and part of the wood grain trim. Other than the headlight switch nut the 2 studs and nuts on the wiper switch are the only thing that holds the trim piece on.

Is this wood grain trim piece reproduced with the plastic studs? My '69 had both snap off today and I'd like to get it fixed:



I see Ames & PY both have vinyl inserts and lower dash inserts, do these have the correct studs on them or am I stuck fabricating something on my own? Someone drilled holes in the radio portion of the lower dash plate so it needs to be replaced anyways.

I guess my question really just needs a simple "yes" or "no" answer to whether PY part PYI70



is what I need or not. Has anyone used that part and does it work to repair the broken stud problem? Can you also mount a shaft radio to the right side as well provided you support it from behind?

The plastic insert comes with the molded plastic studs. As for the insert on the radio side, the front of the radio's supported by the holes in the steel dash since the plastic insert alone can't support that weight. If it's been chopped out I've seen people who've fabricated a repair.

Molded stud is good. Shame about the radio, never seen one not chopped there and the previous owner put a gaping hole in it. Can't fabricate anything as I don't have the skills.
