70 G.P with cloth interior?
After a long, long search I finally found /bought a 70 G.P. with 4 speed.
Owned several 69 to 72 G.P.'s this one has cloth inserts in the buckets. Anyone know if cloth was available? thought only comfort weave vinyl or leather were the choices. Maybe it's a long ago reupholstery job, but it sure looks original. |

The car that my daughter's motor came from was a 69 GP, 400 2bbl with cloth buckets. It was a real stripper.

Congrats on your 4-speed find! Pictures please!!!
 The cloth inserts were a no-cost option in only some of the available interior colors. My friend that got me started in GP's had green cloth seats in his '70. Tell us more about your car when you can. |

It's a model J. 400 4bbl with M21 4speed. Was suprised to see a 12 bolt rear axle, but research shows that 4 speed G.P.'s came with 12 bolt. It's a well optioned car with power windows, locks, tilt , AmFm stereo/8 track, in dash tach,wood rimed sport wheel,l conering lights, etc. That's why cloth interior suprised me. It's got 55,000 miles on it. 1 owner. Picked it up for $1500.00 Has been sitting since 1994. Did all the necessary prep and fired it up. Runs great ! Body it pretty tired, but I have 2 parts cars. Really looking forward to getting it presentable over the winter and enjoying it next summer. |

Everyone's opinion please.
Going to replace the tires with B.F. Goodrich radial TA's Car has 14 X 7 rally II's Checked out a set of 245/60/14's at discount tire but was wondering about the 70 series. Almost 1" taller, but also about 3/4 " narrower than the 60's Would like opinions before I purchase. |

WOW!... Great score! Please post some photos when you get a chance.
Regarding the tires... I recently replaced the 245/60/14 BFG's on my '71 with 225/70/14 Firestone's. I'm much happier with the stance, ride and handling of the car with the change. Grant |

Thanks for the tire info. I was thinking the same thing about how the 70 series tires might be a better choice. The photo's of your car says it all. The car looks like it sits better on the 70's.
How do you like the Firestones? Will post pics this weekend; however they will show faded Atol blue paint plus I already removed the vinyl top to see what was underneath. |

I do like the Firestones, put the same on a '72 GP about 10 years ago and liked them then. The BFG Radial T/A's are good too, but I wanted a different look as they are so common.
Looking forward to the photos. No kidding, its Atoll Blue? Nice! My '70 is also Atoll Blue, I'll attach a photo. Did you by chance find your car in TX? Grant |

Does your 70 have blue interior? If so, both cars have the same color scheme.
How many G.P's do you own? I bought my car in South Texas. |

Your car's are beautiful !
I'm a lucky man in the fact that I've owned almost any car I've desired and my wife supports my car habit. I keep going back to the 69 to 72 G.P.'s They are absolutely my favorite. Never seen an Atol blue car before and oddly enough one of my parts cars is also Atol blue. Did not post pics yet, got busy helping my son get his brand X stroker motor up and running this weekend. Will post pics soon. Never understood Pontiac's choice for the location of the 8 track player ! |

Thanks. That's great to have an understanding wife that supports your hobby. I've done the same thing over the years... started out with GP's in high school, went to GTO's and some other GM cars for a while and now back to GP's. I remember seeing one Atoll Blue GP in town here back in the 80's. There's a '70 SJ 4-speed that's the same color scheme as ours that has been for sale a few times over the past 6 years or so. You can find several photos of it online if you search Google images. The placement of the 8-track is an odd location in these cars, but they really had no other place to put it with how the dash and console are fitted together. Looking forward to your pics!
