Default Gun values

A friend of my has an opportunity to buy a couple of guns and called me last night to see what I thought of the deal. The guns are a Ruger Super Blackhawk SS w/scope rings (no scope and don't know barrel length). The other gun is an AR-15 put together by a gunsmith from parts. Not sure of the make of any of the pieces he used. It has a collapsible stock and comes with 2 30 mags. Asking price is $1000 for both. What do you guys think?

The Ruger should be around $500 or so. Without knowing who made the AR, it's hard to tell. A grand for both sounds like a reasonable deal. I would advise your friend to find out more info on the AR. Will he let him shoot both prior to buying? Would he possibly allow him to take them to a gunsmith for an eval?

That's a so-so deal. Not the best. The AR is what is in question. There are a million parts that they can be made from and some are crap. He would have to get the builder to tell him what was put together to make a decision. I would pass on the AR since the market is saturated AND you can buy new ones at Wally World now. Heck, Colts are selling at Wally for $1000 LOL

I'd checkout the web site called armslist and see what they are going for in your area.
