Used 60's style Big pontiac engine mounts, with a 1/8" tapered spacer on both sides. We cheated and used 4 degree leaf spring plates. This is using the ford 460 frame mounts. We used a one of the blowed up 460 pistons for the spacer for the trans mount with a th400. WITH THE JUST INSTALLED 3.55 GEARS, THE TRUCK IS running high teens for mpg and the kid down the street with the new burnt orange colored 2010 ss camaro can't stand the fact he can't beat the the "ugly truck!" as he calls it. So much for all the idiots jumping on the ls series engines bandwagon. Hyd. roller cam, intake; 231/226@.050", .540"/.515" lift with the harland sharp 1.65 rockers, ,(yes, i had the cam custom ground) ported by me #96 heads, filled the exhaust cross over (had to use 1 of the blown ford pistons for something!) Nothing but good balancing and blueprinting with the Tomahawk rods, and flat top forged pistons. Currently a torker intake is on it, but the performer rpm made more power, so it is going back on after we try the torker II and tomahawk. I do not have the new KRE Northwind yet to try. I'm sure the rpm will be best out of my current selection, but trying most the avalible intakes anyway. And yes, that is a SD/ TRIPOWER water neck.

I've got an 86 F250 HD that I'm restoring right now. I've been thinking about a 462 swap, but the 460 runs too well (for now). My issue is the T19 4-speed, I need an OD or 3.55 gears.

I own a Ford truck but the 351w in mine runs 15 mpg when it's cold out. For 2mpg it's not worth the hassle. Like David's mine also runs too well to screw with. Mine will be getting a set of 2002 Super Duty Axles with Disc brakes shortly to get rid of the Twin I beam garbage so it'll drive better. I may actually put a body on it when I get the driveline sorted out.

Found a clean/cheap Ranger the other day that needed a new transmission (1st and Reverse not working), and he can't afford to have it fixed again, so he's selling it. Price is stupid cheap, and I envisioned how unique it would be to not only do a V8 swap, but go with a 400 rather than the usual 302 that most use when doing this. It would be a fun project and something unique if anything. I've seen V8 S-10 and Rangers before, and thought this might be an interesting twist. Sure would be a quick little S.O.B.!

Getting closer to making this happen. Curious about motor mounts, but I'll research that further when time comes. I sure think this project might turn out pretty cool!
