Nothing new to report this week. I am waiting on a phone call saying my car is ready to be picked up. Hopefully, it will come this week. Y'all have a good one.

I talked with Sanford Friday. He said the car should be ready by the end of this week. I told him I was in no rush, just let me know. Can I get a little excited yet?

Phil,
Did you ever get the trunk painted yet with the paint I sent out to Fountain's?
If so how did it turn out?
You owe us lots of pics once you get the car back!
Looking forward to seeing it all assembled.

I have not seen the car but Sanford said he would do it. He is supposed to call me tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon to let me know for sure when the car will be ready. I will ask him how it turned out. When it comes home I still have to do some more to it. I have to finish the A/C, have the steering wheel restored, buy and install the hood insulation and install the rocker moldings. I am going to let Sanford restore the large piece as well as the door trim. They are in good shape, just need a little work and polishing. I will have to buy the front and rear pieces and the clips. I also have to put the grilles in and the front bumper on but i need to get a piece for the A/C before I can do that.
With all that the car probably won't be on the road until Christmas. But, I've been working on it for 5 years so another few months won't make a big difference. Just knowing it's this close gives me hope!!

I didn't really lie. The man just had two stints put in and has to go back in three weeks to have two more so I couldn't put much pressure on him.

Another chapter is about to come to a close in my epic novel. Sanford called today and said I can come get it Monday!!
He still has to cover the back seat bottom and install the top but that will be done this week.
I know this isn't Sunday but I have to tell Y'all about what he did for me. It seems that the back seat bottom that came with the car was not the correct one. So Sanford said he had one to use as a pattern and could modify mine to work. Well, today when he called, he said that he made some calls and found one an hour away from him. He drove down, picked it up and drove back to his shop and is only charging me the actual cost of the seat, $150.00. I thought that was pretty reasonable for a 67 GTO convertible seat.
Anyway, I won't have anything to say Sunday so I better shut up. Y'all be good.

I am also waiting for Monday. The GTO has been in the trans shop since Thursday and I was hoping to get it back yesterday afternoon for a Cruise being held at Lake Arrowhead today (not far from the Georgia Racing Hall Of Fame). But it wasn't ready so I have to wait. Pales in comparison to your wait. You sent your GTO off to the first body shop on Aug 8th 2008, Page 9, Post 165 of this thread. Over 4 years ago!!! Hard to believe it has been gone that long for you!

Great to hear it will be home on Monday. Jim

Jim, The car actually came back home from the first shop for a while then I took it back. It was there the second time for a year before it got painted. It has been at the new shop for about 6 weeks now.
Tomorrow at this time I will either be on cloud 9 or cryin' in my beer. I hope it's the clouds 'cause I don't like beer!

I forgot to tell Y'all that the above reply is also my weekly post. When I remembered it was too late to edit the post. I think I'll go to bed now, maybe 5:30 tomorrow morning will get here quicker if I do!
