That's an LB7. 8th digit of the vin 1= LB7 2= LLY and a 2004.5 model.
Very nice truck, priced a little high. |

Yes a VIN 1 is LB7 and yes again to the injectors needing replacement. I wish that had a blown up motor, I have a low miles LLY just itching for a home.

I sold my LB7 with 80K miles, never had an issue. The next owner said he never added standyne or anything else to the fuel, drove the crap out of it and 15K later it needed two injectors.
I sold it because that was always in the back of my mind, sad too it was a great truck in mint shape... BTW, I need to see if you have a couple 4th gen parts I need. |

Is that 3500 for the injectors or the all-in cost (parts/labour) for this? I assume injectors are the same on the newer Duramax diesels?
Been thinking about a 2500HD or 3500 dually as a tow vehicle (open trailer initially, then an enclosed for my 69 Bird). Trying to sort out new (as I can afford) or go used (a clean 2000 or newer) for the truck, but trying to sort maintenance aspects. This truck would be a dedicated tow vehicle and would be stored when not in use. Thanks, Brian. |

all of them have their pluses and minuses
01-04 have injector woes 04.5-06 have head gasket woes but that allison trans is a beast whats so nice is the ability to tune with a touch of a button. Its not unheard of to max the trans out(800 ft lbs torque) with just a reprogram.

I never cared for aluminum heads on a diesel; they always seem to be crack prone.

Most of the issues with the 06 to 07.5 was the programmers on kill. The 06 is a beast of a motor unless you abuse it.
Volkswagen is and has been using aluminum heads on iron blocks without issue. |
