Silicone is petty much sillycone when using it as adhesive. Black would be best because the packing is also black. Dry set it a few times to determine the amount of gap between the glass and track. If I recall, the gap is miminual, so it will be hard to tell the difference between bonded and packing.

I know that some people insist that packing is used. Myself, I never used packing, and I'm not about to start now. The thing is that with packing it's a crap's shoot whether or not it will stay on, while silicone is 100% positive bond.
