My dad was never a car guy.I came from a family of 7 kids so we mostly had Ford Station wagons.Before i was born he did have a 1957 Bel-Air he bought new,it was a 283 2-4bbl 2 speed,black with silver interior.He also had a strange optioned '65 Lemans when i was born.It had a 6 cyl with power windows and the reason i remember that option is at 5 yo i had my fingers closed in them.

My dad was not really much of a car guy. Although he always bought new cars he was focused on his career. The first cool car he bought was a 69 Thunderbird four door. Suicide doors were cool. One time when my dad headed up north on I75, my sister opened the back door at 80 mph. The door held! The coolest car he had was a 72 Riviera. Still to this day I wish I had one. It was the car I learned how to drive on. Unfortunately he got rid of it just after I got my license. Probably the coolest car he would have had was a 56 Thunderbird. Unfortunately I came along and that dream faded.

My dad was a grand prix man. The one I remember was a light blue 64 grand prix. His next one was a 70 grand prix, wasn't too crazy about it. He had a 58 or 59 grand prix I don't remember because i was a baby. That car is still around he sold it to one of his freinds who still has it. See it at car shows all the time. My dad said i was concieved in it. Now that would be a cool car to own,

My Mom left my dad when my sister and I were small. The only thing I remember car related about him was when he put a splitting maul through the windshield of my moms falcon when he found us at a little market!

my dad collected all kinds of cool cars, but my favorite was his 63 avanti he got it when it was a couple of years old. even though dad is gone now, the avanti still sits in my warehouse with 50k miles on it.

A 62 Impala hardtop, 283 4-bbl and three on the column. I learned to drive in that car on the hilly streets of Hagerstown, Md. I also got my first ticket for drag racing a 63 409. And, my dad was a cop so I got in double trouble.

I have a hard time deciding. I guess the GT350 since it was the first family car I road in and the only car in this list I ever saw in person. Have video of the Riv and 1 pic of the 409. Don't think we have any pics of the other 2 listed.

My Dad, from 1965 to 1983 got a new Chevrolet Impala every year as a company car so Mom always got the cool used family cars.

1969 International Traveall, 4x4 "The Blue Goose"
71 Olds 98 Luxury sedan. (455 that would spin the single track tire as far as my 15 yr old foot wanted it to)

62 Plymouth Valiant (I came home from the hospital in it in 62)

The first car my folks had was a 55 Chevy 2 door, not sure if it was a hardtop or not. I'll ask my dad turkey day, thankfully he's still around... It was that dark pinkish color...

Second car was a 57 Chevy 2 door wagon, not a Nomad, though, it was a pile. I remember dad out in the stand alone one car garage (early 60's, typical) working on it...too often

Traded it for a 59 Catalina wagon. It had been the towns ambulance (was red). It was neat, but the engine would stall every other time my mom drove it, turning onto the street we lived on, twice it came to a rest ,right on the rail road tracks, she was pissed!!! (ever heard that saying "If momma ain't happy, nobodies happy"...LOL)The 3rd time this happened over a span of around a year and a half, the wagon went bye-bye.

THEN we got a 2 door 66 Olds 88, light blue color, 330 2 Bbl. It was the best. although I'd rather have the first 2 Chevys, if I got a choice...

My dad was into performance cars in a mild way, I'd say. The '66 Bonneville 2dr hardtop my parents bought new and kept until 1979 was the car that's responsible for me being so into Pontiacs. Dad also had a '66 Mustang w/ 289 for about 10 years - my friends in elementary school and junior high thought that one was the coolest. But the one that's my "favorite", because it's what I learned to drive in, cruise in high school, drove to the senior prom, etc. was a '77 Chevy Caprice. Dad ordered it with the healthiest motor, a 350 4-barrel, the optional axle ratio (3.08), and the F41 sport suspension. I don't remember what the hp rating was, but it felt quick at the time, and pretty much outran everything anyone in my circle of friends had (I grew up in Northern VA - not much hi-po stuff running around there back then). And with the F41, it really handled well. The picture below is after I mildly restored the exterior of the car in the mid-90s... it was originally 2-tone gold with the dark gold on the sides and the cream on the top surfaces. I made it 1-tone cream. Shortly after this pic was taken, it got totaled while it sat in the parking lot at my office - some idiot flying through the lot got T-boned and ricocheted into it...

Two cars stand out. 59 El Camino, 348/tri-power and a 4 speed. Was the tow car for the midget in my avatar and the same color. Owned it from 1960 to 75. And the other one has been in the family since the 60's and after sitting for 20 years was put back together a few years ago. 32, all steel, 354 hemi, Lincoln 3 speed, Halibrand quick change.
