They are uncommon vs rare. I have picked them up for as little as $75 but have seen people ask $300+. The $200/$250 range is most common.

428ratkiller,
When I found one on the '78 Grand Am I scrapped out (I kept the core support and the AC box exhaust head shield) I did some research. I saw somewhere that only about 5% of all BOP from '78 to ? came with them. Some aluminum supports (not all) came with the aluminum "X" brace for the radiator openning. Some also came with the even rarer 46" long chin spoiler. My core support came with the aluminum "X" brace and the 46"spoiler (I don't know why other then the GA was loaded with options). Oh, not all aluminum core supports came with the stamped letter "A" and the weight savings was about 9 pounds (22lbs. to 13lbs.). As far as what they are worth, I've seen people say they bought some from local yards for as low as $50.00 and some people have said they've sold them for as much as $350.00 (I'm repeating what I've seen on the other forums I belong to). Doug

And I agree with Doug.
My GA had aluminum core support, aluminum x brace (which some people will say do not exist) and the long chin spoiler.

A couple of pictures:
First is the core support with the 46" chin spoiler and the second shows the difference in the ends of the "x" braces.

A couple of pictures:
Doug The "X" brace that's bolted to the core support is the aluminum one and the one not bolted is a steel one.

Shane,
I only have 1 left and it will be going in my 79 this "Winter". It has the aluminum cross bars, the only ones I have ever seen. I had it blasted and powder coated so if I did sell it I would need a small fortune for it. |
