Very very nice Phil. Looks much better all together.

BTW... you don't need no stinkin wipers. Rain X replaces em. Well, you might need wipers for State Inspection, but then you can go back to Pain X.

Looks great Phil!

You mentioned the wether started looking bad so you moved it back in the shop...

I've been helping my good friend Ron with a complete mechanical restoration of his 1967 Plymouth Belvedere. Just two nights ago we let it down off the jack stands and decided to take it for its maiden voyage...1st time moving under its own power in 30 years (has 1982 North Carolina inspection sticker on the W/S, and we know for fact the car has not been driven in the last 15 years). It was clear outside, but cold, so we decided it could at least make a loop or two around the block.

It started sleeting as soon as he left the driveway. Went around the block once and back in the garage! Maybe this weekend will allow some drive time. The body & paint work need completed, so if it ain't this weekend, then it will have to wait until it is done.

He bought this car in boxes and now we know it is close. It only needs a few dents fixed and a good scuff of the original paint (really nice car to start with - no major rust repair). It's a driver, and he really wanted all the mechanical stuff to be new. It looks like a brand new car underneath, from front to back.

Oooohhhhhhh. I'm just seeing the pictures now.
Holy cow that looks so good. Fantastic. Yes, when you can, post more pix.
That is my favorite color...Mariner Turquoise. From the pictures, the reflected light looks like a white pinstripe....I like it.
Enjoy it. You'll get thumbs up everywhere.

Thanks Y'all. I still have some issues with hood and fender alignment that a friend, who runs a local body, shop is going to help me with. And, I still have to finish the A/C and have the steering wheel restored.
Hopefully, I will get all this done before the weather warms up. Down here that could be next week!!

Your car keeps looking better and better! In the center of your trunk picture, is that the cardboard piece that goes over the Hyd pump motor for the convertible top? Also on your hood pad, did you have to remove the hinge bolts, to the hood, to put it on? I can't remember wether you told me that you got the molded hood pad from PY or Ames? Did you get the convertible motor/pump cover at the same place? I need to get both of those pieces for mine. Yours look very nice, you've done an top notch job with your car. I'm sure you will be taking all the trophy's home this spring/summer!!

Charles,
I got both pieces from our host. I picked them up at the Moultrie Swap meet so I didn't have to pay the extra shipping charge for the hood pad. I didn't have to remove anything to install it. But, be careful on the front corners as they will break very easily. Ask me how I know?!
The piece in the trunk is the cover but my interior man put it in when he did the top.

Thanks Phil! I remembered that you said you picked up the hood pad at the swap meet, I just couldn't remember who you purchased it from. I saw the motor/pump cover in the PY catalog. I am getting ready to order one of the hood pads, will get the cover from them too. Thanks for all the help and for taking the time and effort to document your restoration. There should be a sticky if there is not one on restoration threads and yours should definitely be in it!! Hope you enjoy your very fine 67 GOAT!!
Thanks.

Chuck

Your car is looking great Phil! I'm going to be painting a 67 for a club member a week from now so I've been following your restore from the beginning. I'm now trying to determine how much of the trunk space is body color and how much is speckle paint. Did you have a source for yours or do you know of one? This one is going Fathom Blue. I've been doing too many 64's where the whole trunk is body color and I don't remember how much is covered on the 67. Thanks for any help or direction.

Mark,

See if these photos would help you.
These are some photos I copied a few years ago of a 44,000 mile survivor.

Thanks Charles! Those are a great resource. That tells me what I needed to know. Interesting runs on the cowls, I'll bet they weren't all like that. but the fuzzy edge probably should be recreated as that looks to be the norm on all the cowls I've seen pictures of.
Thanks again for posting the link, going to bookmark it!

I almost forgot my Sunday post again! I still have some stuff to do and more parts to buy but I can drive the car. I am finding a lot of rattles but most of them are coming from me!
I thought I had a big transmission problem today. I was going to take my wife out for a ride but the car wouldn't shift into second. I changed oil last night and wondered if I had hit anything under the car. Sure enough, I knocked the vacuum line off the transmission.
It's not easy trying to hook it back up with a hot exhaust pipe in the way. After burning my right hand twice I switched to my left and burned it three times but I got the hose back on and went for the ride.
I worked on some minor stuff last Monday for about 4 hours and I will add that to my totals next week. I ordered some parts from our host and they should be here in a few days.
Y'all have a good one and thanks for everything.

Well, another week of driving the car some has brought up a few issues that need to be addressed. First, I have some lifter noise from the passenger side. Since the engine is an unknown I will first try to adjust all the lifters to see if that helps. I added some marvel Mystery Oil and that helped some but there are two or three on the right side that continue to tap a little.
Second is play in the rear end. Since I have no idea about adjusting the lash I will take it to an old school mechanic here and let him work on it.
And I had a slight scare Friday when I showed the car to some guys at a local shop. One of them noticed a gas leak at the carb. I brought the car home and let it cool down for several hours, then I loosened the small line into the carb and snugged the large fitting about 1/8th of a turn.
I didn't want to start the car to check the leak because I didn't have time to let it warm up completely so I let it set until today.
I started it up and felt around the fitting and it was dry so I backed out of the shop and got my wife to go for a ride.
But, before leaving the house I decided to check one more time. The front of the carb was wet!! Turns out the carb top plate screws and the two bolts that mount the carb to the intake were not tight. I know there are four bolts but the back two don't go through the carb body. Anyway, I tightened them down and problem solved. Still got to go for a short ride hoping the lifter noise might disappear completely but it is still there.
On the off chance some lobes on the cam have been wiped I am posting another thread about a good replacement cam.
I spent $81.00 on some parts from our host and will update totals after I get the valves and rear end taken care of.
