Default CA 78 Macho Owner History Help Please!

I am searching for the owner history on my '78 Macho Trans Am #202. It is black with gold trim, tan interior with factory fisher t-tops, 400, 4spd and turbo charged. The car sat on a driveway in Santa Clara, CA for a number of years before it was finally sold and sent off for a restoration. When it was sold it had centerline racing wheels on it and the turbo had been removed.

I am attempting to document the story behind the car!

What I do know is the following:
1. Stephen Welton sold the car in the late 90's (he will not talk to me)
2. Car sold in October 1978 (probably last '78 Macho sold for model year)
3. Car possibly seen in San Jose area at auto shop?

Did you ever see the car?
Do you know anything about the car?
Did you own the car?

Thanks,
Jim

Default Macho

Probably the best pics of the car right now are on the firebirdgallery.com

I'm completing some chassis work right now and then will dive into getting the engine running.

Do you have a Macho?

Yes I'm the proud owner of a Macho T/A. Ive been working on mine for a while. Maybe it will be done this summer. I'm doing a color change to black and gold. I have hooker side pipes, chrome roll bar and vintage recaro seat for it. It has a mild 455 with a richmond 5 speed.

Those are cool cars, saw one for the first time on the hot rod power tour a few years back. Asked the owner what the deal was about them and got the whole history of the machos....very cool.

I found my old copy of the Hot Rod article on them from '78 if any of you want me to mail a copy of it.
