Default Paint Aluminum Radiator

Can you paint an aluminum radiator with high temp engine paint?
Thank you.

Sure, and it doesn't even have to be hi-temp paint. Engine enamel-type spray paint will work fine, since the rad will never see anything over ~250F... at least, it better not! I painted the top tank of my Griffin rad and it's held up fine for the 2 years it's been painted.

I would recommend masking off the core area and leaving that bare, just paint the tanks and side reinforcements.

I would use Eastwood radiator paint. It's a super thin coating that won't inhibit heat transfer.

I painted mine seeing as the car was silver and didn't want more behind the grille, painted everything and I have driven in heavy traffic, in the 100's with the original water pump and my engine sits at 185. Dan

I spray gun painted my Griffin with Rustoleum, thinned a bit and with a couple drops of hardner added. Did the tanks and sides, fogged the front surface but left the engine side unpainted as it hidden for the most part by the fan shroud. Been 5 years now and it still looks great.

Eastwood radiator paint is holding up well on my aluminum radiator. I painted the whole radiator, fins tank and all.
