Wow, I like how boobs and sex were integrated into this discussion .

After reading all the thoughts and having a night to sleep on it, I'm leaning towards taking the slow road. I'm going to take the short block into a shop for evaluation and estimate. With that information we'll collect the necessary items to prepare for rebuild. Once that's all sorted out then I'll pry the car away from the wife and swap it out.

This process may take awhile so we'll get to play with the existing "YE" block for the time being. She'll see more than her share of car shows.

On another quick topic...

Does anyone know if the lower rear valance (below the rear bumper) was plastic or steel? I'm going to re-route the exhaust back to it's original position behind the tires instead of it's current location out the back.

My old one was metal early build. I also heard later was plastic. Not sure what the cut off dates was...

Nothing better than the smoke coming from the sides......

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. Are there other panels on the car that would be a clue between plastic or metal?

I would think having the 455 HO laying around for the next guy is not why you own and drive them?
AMEN Mike,
I did'nt buy my cars to look at them. I bought them to drive. And I sometime get carried away and drive them like I stole them. My brother and I did a YOU TUBE video of my 72 HO 455 GTO doing a smokey burn out.
