My Lemans came with A/C and I had every intention of hooking it all up once the new engine settled in. I made sure everything behind the dash worked properly when I restored it (so yes I can get heat from the dash vents), and I still have the suitcase and some of the odd A/C parts for the engine bay. But I really haven't thought about it since. The top is always down, and the red vinyl doesn't seem to pick up the heat as much as I thought it would.
If I frequently drove relatively long distances especially where there was a chance of summer rain then I would want the A/C just to keep the humidity down and the fog off the windows. But we rarely go that far. Or maybe if I lived in an area with a lot of stop-and-go traffic. It gets plenty hot and humid here in Georgia but traffic is not a problem and as long as the breeze is blowing I am good. I guess it depends on who you are and how you use the car. If I wanted a roof above me all the time then I would have bought a hardtop!

I agree with you there but that is not the reason that I bought a convertible. There is nothing like top down driving except maybe motorcycling. I did plenty of the later over the years and love it but the love of my life doesn't like to ride. And, on longer trips there are times when you get caught in weather. Sold my last bike 4 years ago but still miss it some days.

I operated the top for the first time on Sat...it does not sit down very nicely on the drivers side...a lot of top in the folds..
And how the hell do you get that damn boot off? The top frame is still in the way and prevents sliding the boot out of the center channel.

The boot is pretty hard to get in and out of that channel up behind the rear seat, so its definitely not something you would want to do very often. I just leave the boot attached, and the rare times that I put my top up I fold the boot ends over and drop it into the well out of sight.
If I really liked the car with the top up and very rarely put it down then I would just leave the boot off. But a nice boot makes the car look a lot better with the top down and that's the way mine normally stays.
