Default Road trip to NC

Headed to North Carolina from Southern Ontario with an empty trailer later tonight. We don't have a lot of spare time but call if I can be of assistance.

Bringing home a 71 GTO 455 convertible "project"

This didn’t turn out to be the road trip for father and son as planned. While I had already paid for the car in full and invested a further 2,000 to get it, plus a lot of time, I did not pick it up and it remains in NC. Caveat emptor.

I had a great time with my youngest son who is 17 who came to give me a hand when a buddy couldn’t make it. He loves muscle (not tuners) especially the Pontiacs with a bit of influence from me of course.

The positive is that the car is a real 24267, 1971 GTO Lucerne Blue, blue interior with white convertible top. It is a heavily optioned car with 455, turbo 400, A/C, PS, PB, PW, PDL with seat back lock, console, cruise, rally gauges, soft ray tint all around, AM/FM, sport steering wheel, tilt, 8 Track, Wire wheels covers. The cost was over $4,800.00 new. It did not have ram air or The Judge package of course otherwise this note would have had much different results. Sounds fantastic on paper...

It is one of 43, 1971 convertibles with the 455 and a huge list of options as a bonus so it should be restored. Unfortunately it was not as described and as a result the restoration required is over my ability (and that of many others) and budget. Some of the parts supposed to be with the car were missing for unexplained reasons.

Anyone out there with the desire / ability to restore this vehicle who wants more details, please send me a PM.

Sorry the car was more of project than you were looking for. Just once I'd like to have a car look better in person than the seller or pics led you to believe.
IIRC that was in Cameron & the pictures did show a pretty tall project car.
I'm sure the ride home wasn't what had hoped for but looking at it in your garage for the next few years would've hurt even more.....

Have you asked the seller if he could contact any of the back up bidders to see if there's still any interest there? Second choice would be to run it on ebay again & take what it brings. Just a thought.

L-75 right? You couldn't get Ram Air with the L-75.

Sorry it didn't turn out for you - but I think we've all had deals like that. Just pick it up and sort out the details afterwords. Probably could have parted it out and gotten most of your money back.
