A GTO that sold at Auctions America Carlisle event is being resold at Mecum's Indy auction on May 17th (Lot # F180) -- is that your car? If so it looks realy nice.

Yes that was my car until 2 weeks ago. But it never won Nationals in 2010. I got good money for it in PA. Now I guess its on the auction tour. Will watch the Indy. Thanks

super nice car! it will be interesting to see what car brings in indy. must have been a dealer that bought it so the car will have too bring a lot more than it brought in carlisle. entry fees, buyers and seller premiums, transportation, lodging, etc. etc. I think 50k would be a break even price for him. i think it will bring that amount or more!! fred

Here is the link to Mecum. The car is tops in restoration close to 100% right with a few personal exceptions. going on recent auctions a gold certified 67 sold for 50K.and had few options. This cars drive train is not origional but a very close YSI did well seeing I did not have to pay a commission just the entry. I thought I was done thinking about it. |

I haven't heard the term "Brass Hat". Would this be true with this car. I had asked Jim at PHS if it was special and he didn't think so. The car was built in Aug 66 invoiced in May 67.

Your 67 (use to be) looks beautiful! I have never heard the term "brass hat' car either. I think some people ordered a lot of options on their cars back then. My 67 has 35 factory options that are original to the car (on the PHS and window sticker). It was not ordered for a GM exec. It was ordered by what some would argue was a nut job...he paid more for it than a new 427 'Vette!
I hope the 2010 nationals is an honest mistake and not someone trying to mis-represent. The car is gorgeous and should speak for itself. |

From the Mecum ad for the car's specs..... "Real wood tilt steering wheel"
Somebody at Mecum has no idea that Pontiac did not use real wood for their 'looks like wood' wood steering wheels.

The last time I submitted information for a car being sold through Mecum, they used my description virtually word for word in the ad. I believe the misrepresentation or lack of knowledge regarding the wheel is probably coming from the owner of the car.
