[PMD1969]

This fits the 1 Gen FB Tech since it is a one year 69 only.

I have a st of air shocks on my 69 FB that are slowly leaking air and need to be replaced. I like the air shock and they have worked very well for over 20 years. If you hate air shocks I appreciate your opinions but I am sticking with them.

Anyone out there with a 69FB that have air shocks please share the brand that you have? The ones I have are for a 6 and had to remove the frame bumper on one side to get them to fit. The shocks are for a 68.

I checked Gabriel and they do not have a listing for a 69FB. Monroe Max Air's look great but again no listing for a 69FB.

Are you sure it's the shocks are leaking and not a hose or o-ring? You can buy the hose/o-ring kits fairly cheap.

try 79-92 mustang rear shocks or 82-92 firebird-camaro rear air shocks...they have the same mounting sides, hope this helps

I am not that sure but what is driving me to replace them is that they do not fit the car correctly to begin with. I want to get the right shocks on the car and also reinstall the frame bumper.

Thanks for the tips. Curious as to why a shock mfg couldn't figure this out?

Gabriel has a listing for their Hi Jackers. Can I assume that they will fit without removing frame bumpers on my 69?

When i had my 69 bird I had the gabieral Hy-jacker on it the entire time if I got them pumped up all the way my head lights we looking right the ground & it rode like a tank, but I loved them.

I have the Gabriel's on my '69. They are great but there is a small leak somewhere. Warning label says they can be pumped up to 240 psi but my compressor and most others will only get up to 110 psi which is still awesome

Do you happen to know hat the model number is on them? I know it s a long shot but it would really help if the fit is correct for yours. I also have Gabriels on mine since I checked but I cannot tell what the model number is.

I tested them again and what is happening is they will only allow 55 pounds of air into the shocks. Even though the compressor is at 125 psi no more after 55 on the stick.

With Gabriels you shouldn't use any more than 20 psi of air in them. IIRC, that's in the instructions. And it's best to use the single fill fitting so they'll level themselves. I don't understand why you'd want to try and get 200 psi or even 55 psi in them, I think that would blow they apart and cause some serious injuries. I did see that they say "Air pressure of 25 min – 200 max psi", but 200 psi is just plain crazy and asking for trouble.

When I had mine , it has been awhile but I do remember that if I had more then about 35-40 lbs. in them the front end was looking at the ground & i rode so hard it felt like I was on an old skate board with metal wheels on a dirt road. I kept about 25 lbs. in them & it was up high enough to clear my old L-60's with no problem.
