Default Mini starter recamendations

So what Mini starter can be counted on for a proper fit? I bought a Jegs a while back from a fellow Member and it was fine for a long time with Zero shims! It began to give me problems so I figured I would buy Summit racing brand Mini well this was a big mistake! And so was the fact that I bought it over a year ago and they will not take it back. Anyway I have tried ten differant way's to shim the sucker using the paper clip method and it just is not right. It seems as though the pad is not the right size? Anyway anyone have any recamendations?
Thanks

Ive bought and used both robbmc and IMI . Both work good with no shimming issues.
If I had to pick between the 2 it would be the robbmc.

Ram Air Restorations sells a nice unit under their name for $189- I'm not sure who makes it though? It's works flawlessly in my bird and replaced a Summit unit that didn't fit...

I've had 2 RobbMc starters for quite awhile. They have worked flawlessly and support has been outstanding.

Sorry, cant help, but I have the Summit unit on my 455 and works like a charm. Maybe something a little funky with your flywheel or block?

I've used the Summit, IMI and Robbmc all - no issues with any except I had to send in a Robbmc to have a pinion support placed. I can't say that the Robbmc has worked any better - but support is where the good money is paid. If you have any issues, he'll fix it - cheap. The others - I'd guess that you'd just throw the unit away.

I have one I bought used, I don't know what brand it is. Works on the bench. My problem is it won't bolt up using Ram Air III manifolds.

The thing works great on the bench but for some reason once it's installed it seems to hang on the flywheel. I don't think there is any problems with the block or the flywheel since the Jegs starter worked perfect for so long. I read someplace that someone had a similer issue with a Summit mini and they actually had to shave the mounting block to get it to fit! Wish I had done the homework on this one since they will not take it back now....
I guess I'll go for the Robmc.
Thanks

I ordered my RobbMC today. Spoke to Robb directly, and he answered the phone on the first ring. Looking forward to it!

I tag on with RobbMC crew.

Bought it for my new 462, but put it on the original 389 when I had some starting problems before the 462 was done.

Worked perfect on the 389 with original exhaust manifolds and works perfect on the 462 with the RARE Ram Air III exhaust manifolds.

One more on the RobbMc. If I don't have at least one of everything he makes, I'm very close to it.

The stuff is high quality to begin with, but where it really meets the road is his support. It's the best I've ever encountered.
