Question 9792506 Block

Has anybody ever seen, have or had a 9792506 "AS CAST" 68 RAM AIR block with a date code earlier than December of 1967?

This is what I'm thinking - I've had 7 of them over the years, 4 of them have been C118 & 3 of them L187....those are the only two dates I've seen. I know for a fact at least one of the early (October) built RA I/Auto cars has a 67 2510 block in it. I'm beginning to think there were only the two casting dates.

My 04D bulilt 4 speed car has numbers matching XS block with L187 with #31 A098 heads and A028 intake. My auto cars numbers matching XP block is at the machine shop getting freshened up for restoration that is in process, I will have to check the date but I know its a 67 date coded 9792506 block, I just got the heads back and they are H187, really early with #31 on the only on the #3 cylinder exhaust port.

Just going through some old posts, wondered if anyone ever found any early 68 ram air parts? My H187 heads have the 31 stamped vertically on the #3 (drivers) & #6 (passenger) exhaust port

Thanks Guys!!! That's a new data point for us!

I know for a fact that a September built RA I/auto GTO has a D247 9792510 block in it - #'s matching vin on it from the plant. That October 2506 looks like it's going to be the first casting date!

My '68 RAI 'Bird has the J177 block casting date.

11B Trim Tag date

Back in the mid 80's, I had an "XS" engine from a '67 GTO parts car that was also dated "J177". VIN was from a '68 GTO. Have to dig around; Might still have the Billing History for that one.
