Not entirely true, it was either last year or early this year, she didn't have enough owner points and rain was going to determine starting position, so Tony went and bought the owner points from one of Baldwin racings teams so she could be in the race.
Thats just plain pathectic

Jimmy stunk the place up again, but it was good to see Jr run top 5 all day.
Been a fan of Jimmy since the first day he started racing Nascar. Hated it for him the weekend before when he shot himself in the foot, but he redeemed himself this weekend.

It was this year.

Tony bought Baldwin's owner points to guarantee Danica would make the first 5 races. NASCAR rules dictate that the top 36 get in on speed, then the next 6 (or possibly 7) are determined by owners points.

She failed to qualify on speed for 4 of the first 5 races. Had it not been for "buying" points, Danica would not have raced in Phoenix (qualified 40th), Vegas (37th), Bristol (41st) or California (40th).

Failing to qualify to run in 4 of the 1st 5 races would have also caused her to miss the races in Texas (42nd), Darlington (40th) and Dover (39th).

So, in fact, she has only qualified to run in 7 races this season.

If you take away the points from those 7 races that she didn't earn a starting spot, and Danica would be lose 102 points. That would drop her from 246 to 144 and instead of being in 28th position in the points, she would be in 38th.

The only drivers behind her in the points would be Michael McDowell, Timmy Hill, Scott Speed, Michael Waltrip and Terry Labonte inside the top 43 spots.

Bob, the team of Jimmy and Chad are so strong that they have to beat themselves or get caught up in a wreck to lose. I like Jimmy, he's a good guy, I just don't like seeing the same car win all the time. Same with Kyle in the Nationwide series.

And make sure that you leave out, That she was on the POLE at Daytona.

I think the whole world knew that....

Stop the presses - Blind squirrel finds acorn...

In an effort for full disclosure - let's list the qualifying position earned on the track for the other races...

Martinsville - 32nd

Kansas - 25th

Richmond - 30th

Charlotte - 24th

Now if your good at math, you'll realize that there are still two races I haven't listed.

Why?

That's because qualifying was rained out at Talladega and Pocono.

Without the points garnered from the races she failed to qualify on speed on, she would not have started 22nd at Talladega or 30th at Pocono.

Again, for the new readers.

This is not about bashing Danica for a lack of ability. This is about Danica getting more attention than any other driver without any track results backing the attention.

Greg Biffle and Paul Menard are having a great year so far with almost no attention, 10th and 12th in points.

Yes, Danica had to have talent to get where she is, but she's not earned the amount of attention she gets. That, my friends, is the issue as I see it.

I haven't watched very much NASCAR lately, but when I have I've rarely heard her name mentioned other than where she's running.

I see more about her here on this forum than on Speednews or the race coverage.

You must have missed many of DW's comments on her - like the infamous Darrell Waltrip quote from this season..."Danica was running pretty good until she wrecked"...

I did notice that this past week with TNT's broadcasting crew (without DW - thankfully) that the amount of discussion about Danica was greatly reduced.

As well it should be.

For a driver that has only managed to finish on the lead lap 3 times all season, the only discussion necessary is when the race leader puts her another lap down, to announce when she's managed to get another "Lucky Dog" by a well timed caution or has taken the "waive around" to gain a lap back when she's multiple laps down.

I'm not aware of anywhere that the stat is tracked, but she has to be one of the top 3 in those 3 categories.

Default Pathetic excuses shouldn't cloud the facts of poor performance

Ask Lyn St. James and see what SHE has to say...

"Progress has been slow for Danica Patrick"
http://espn.go.com/espnw/news-commen...-progress-slow

"Danica's free ticket to ride" in All Star Race
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...-vote/2212095/

I noticed that as well.

In fact one time she was mentioned and Wally kinda snickered.

Well, once again, the touring princess fails to qualify and needs to use those owners points (that Tony Stewart bought for her) to make the field.

Qualifying time of 36.942 for the young lady - or about 1.4 seconds of the pole sitters time. If I do my math correctly, that means (barring cautions) that she will be a lap down somewhere between lap 25 and 30.

Her boyfriend will probably be on her tail around lap 40...

Nobody ever "earned" a ride being consistently a second or more off the pace driving competitive equipment.

The commercials on the site are not what you may be lead to believe or fantasize. Quite funny some of them are.

patrick
ps no reason for her to be this slow. Engineers and equipment are too good.

Yes, Danica finished 13th today. A decent run for her.

She benefitted from the frequent and timely cautions (but so did some others) and did use at least one wave around to get back on the lead lap.

I've never gone to godaddy's website to watch. I was just referring to the commercials telling you do go to godaddy's site for "more" as being raunchy.

If I ever needed any service that godaddy had, I would use one of their competitors.

I find their commercials about as entertaining as all the "ED" commercials, but not as tastefully done as the "ED" commercials.

Yes she did, good job of staying out of trouble and being in the right place.

Well done Danica!
