Default 2014 GM trucks

OK so someone mentioned a few days ago the new 6.2 engine coming out this fall. In a new body style truck. Seems interesting. Not thinking about replacing my 2011 Chev, but I like to look. Might go back to gas and not give up anything towing over my D-Max. And hey a redesigned truck would be cool too.

Currently I run a 2011 Chev 2500HD LT Duramax 4x4. Extended cab 8 ft box.

Need the 8 ft box for wood and car parts esp to swap meets and such. Could use a little more interior space since both my boys are bigger than me but can't go longer with wheelbase to fit in the garage. Also it is used to plow snow so long wheelbase makes that interesting and rules out the 3500 for sure. I tow a 10000 gross enclosed trailer.

So the 2014 GMC looks nice, but is $10k more to start? And no 8 ft box except on reg cab?

WTF????

Any insight would be preferred...Since my truck needs tires and there is a similar config new 2013 GMC local that looks pretty nice.

I got to ask why no more long boxes and what's the reason for the price increase?

No more extended cabs on the new trucks either, 2 different 4-door models like the dodges now. Ive got a 2012 d-max ext cab, like the re-design for 2014 but prefer the suicide door style extended cab. Wonder how that 6.2 would be mileage wise for towing. I average better mpg with the duramax than I did with my 2011 5.3 chevy, both daily driving and towing.

Gotta be honest, I think I like the old style better than the new, but I think they both look long in the tooth, fully aware that there is only so much you can do with P/U truck.

Got to pay for the disaster called VOLT somehow. Plus the government is running GM. What do you expect? Higher quality and lower price?

I wonder if we'll see the smaller 4.5 V6 D'Maxx -

I'm skeptical of the gas mileage claim. I'm not getting anywhere near what they claim for my truck. Never did and the mileage dropped even more when I put the 2500/3500 towing mirrors on my truck. I do need to upgrade because my camper is too heavy to be in the safe towing numbers. I do like the truck though.

I have the 2011 Sierra 5.3L Extended Cab 4x4 with 3.42 gears. The pic below was taken this morning on a flat section of U.S. Highway 15 a mile from my house. I had cruise control on and A/C. No cargo or passengers but me. Maybe 40lbs of miscellaneous items in the cab.

Is this 6.2 and complete new gas engine? Is it completely different from the 6.2 gas engine that has been out in the Sierra Denali since 08?

Really ? I'll have to google that. Aussies have some neat diesels down there. I read the Ford Ranger was offered with a 2.8 4 holer diesel.

Was told that govt safety mandates were the reason that they switched to the 4 door concept on extended cabs. they wanted a pillar in the middle of the cab to meet specs.
