Phil, just from what I'm going thru looking for 14" tires, I suggest going to 15" rimes and tires. It's really not all that noticeable and tires selection will a huge improvement.
As for rims, have you considered a set of Cragar SS rims? They're still the 'old school' look for the 60s muscle cars. Or even the Torque Thrust Ds. Killer looks for both.

I personally prefer the Rally I on '65 to '67. Nothing wrong with the Rally II but they're just more common. I like 15" better than 14" wheels. It's not obvious at first glance that they are not stock and it's a lot easier to get a nice tire in 15".

I am leaning towards the Rally 1 myself. I just like the looks of it.

Given my druthers I'd go for the Rally I and the 15" wheel.

For the '67 I like the 1's myself. I have a bunch of 14x6 originals, but I do think the 15's look better.

If I go with the 15s what size, 15x7 or 15x8? Would the 15x8s give me the same clearance issue as the 17x8s did on the rear?

No idea how it would compare with the 17's. But I can tell you this, I tried 15x8 Rally IIs on my 67 with 275/60/15's, and the lip was close but not touching, 3/8" maybe?. Under driving/cornering conditions I think it would rub.
You also have to consider trim ring fitment with the 8" wheels. |

I am still undecided but I may go with 15x7s in whatever I get.

15" Rally IIs. Keep the 14s in case you ever decide you want it correct.

Whatever I go with I will definitely keep the originals. I still have the original front drum brakes in the shop.

I am still waiting on my refund from Year One. once I get that I will update the totals. I still have to get the rest of the A/C stuff but that is about the only big expense left.
I haven't had a chance to drive the car this week what with work and the weather. The local cruise in is next Saturday and I hope to make it. Y'all have a good one!

Could you post a link to it? Maybe we can find out who it belongs to.

I copied it from Facebook over a week ago and I don't remember who posted it. That would take a ton of searching at this point. Ill give it a try.

You could easily make your car the twin.
Thanks for the new desktop wallpaper by the way. |
