Default Best way to lower front end.

I put new coils on the front of my 67 Firebird and 2" drop splindles. The front end is still about 2" too high. What is the best way to lower it 1-1/2 to 2"? Thanks.

Is it possible for you to return the coils for something that will work for you? If not I would start by cutting one full coil length from each spring. I did this on my GTO last year and it worked great.

Some have reported the cutting method sacrifices ride quaility, but for me this was not the case. If you can't return the springs there's not much to lose, besides the time and labor.

Damn... you went with 2" springs plus 2" drop spindles and it's still not low enough?
Pics please

But yeah, if you want to go even lower pull the coils back out and start cutting.
If you cut 1 coil, it should drop about 2".

I second cutting the springs - unless you can return them for a pair with even more drop.

How long have the springs been in the car? You need to drive it around a bit and get the suspension to travel up and down a bit for everything to settle in. You'd be surprised at how far they drop after driving it a bit.

The coils are stock lenght, not 2" drop. I think driving it a little is a great idea, and if they don't settle low enough, then I wil cut....can you cut 1/2 a coil, or will they not seat properly?

Did you tighten the lower a-arm bolts with the car resting on the wheels and did you get the springs "keyed" in properly? My bird did get a 1 - 1,5" lift when I installed KYB gas adjust shocks and did not come down so I cut the springs. Knowing what I know now I would have gone for lowering springs instead.

If you end up needing new springs, these are the guys to use.

Default lowering springs

I put a 2" drop lowering springs in my '69 "S" from Summit Racing...worked perfect. Absolutely no tire rub or clearance issues at all!! Love Summit!

No, they will not seat properly if you cut more or less than a full coil at a time.

Put a big blower and two carbs on it, the added weight should help you get your desired stance. There's added benifits also. Lol
