Default Why would this be?

I noticed this sign at the entrance of a local car wash. They can't wash Grand Ams? I can't figure out why. And whatever the reason is, why only Grand Ams, and not the Chevy or Buick or other versions of the same car?

Must be something with that particular car wash. My son just left a job managing a group of car washes and he's never mentioned a problem with Grand Am's.

Wouldn't Grand Prixs have the same issue if it was side cladding?

They were probably involved in a legal dispute with a GA owner for some reason and now won't take any of em. Ask them why.

If you washed all the sh!t off of them, you wouldn't have anything left.

Lol I knew someone would post a comment like that!

Stellar's reasoning is very likely correct; why else would they single out the Grand Am and not similar GM cars? I've never used that car wash, so I've never asked them about it...

We had a place here that screwed up the front-end on one or more Ranger or similar small 4WDs on their rails. An owner took them to court. After that they would not wash that make and model truck anymore. In this case it was just idiots that could not operate the thing right, but this was their "solution".

Mirrors. We used to replace mirrors by the boat load at the pontiac dealership. Kept left and right mirrors in stock at all times. The swishing towel type washes used to wrap around the mirrors and pull them right off.

According to this, it is a problem with the mirrors on the '99-'02 Grand Ams.

oops, didn't realize PMDJIM already posted about the mirrors.

The car wash I go to has a pretty extensive list of 5 or 6 cars they are not responsible for damage to. It is so specific they list not only the make and model but will also say certain packages. Like nissan 370z with sport package and 18" wheels or whatever size it has. Or range rover rear wiper blade assembly.

Interesting... I decided to reply, then noticed that you are from Roy, UT. I lived near there (Ogden and Clearfield) during the last part and after my enlistment. I worked at Hill AFB for about eighteen months after the service. I moved back to NY in 1970. I miss UT, and if my rels would come along I would move back.

Anyway, I had a '94 S10 long ago and a car wash took off the drivers mirror. They paid for it, but I had to take a 500 mile trip without a mirror. It used the brushes to wash and air to dry - so I am fairly sure it was a brush. Possibly they are weak on some GM cars.
