Thanks for the more than probable explananation. We all know GM was very late to the party with the '70 bird, and we couldn't wait to dance with her. That crunched prep time considerably for the '71. My 71 has a few of the 70 only parts on it. I don't mind. I've saw these Camaro door panel lowers offered as correct for the 71 but thought the vendor was pulling a fast one on an uninformed customer. I guess that's not necessarily true.

I bought a set of KR's for my car only to find out later that my car should be wearing KN wheels. Around where I live, none of these guys would have been the wiser, but I'm so damn stupid I couldn't live with it. A great member here fixed me up with the right wheels.

It's an affliction.

I don't know why this fabulous red '71 Formula is even for sale, I would never let it go.

It's beautiful and the guy in New York did a great job restoring it, bent rivot or no bent rivet.

Yes, indeed I did strike a nerve, and for that, I offer a sincere apology to all who were offended. As I stated above, the "rebody" comment was intended as a "tongue in cheek" comment, not as a criticism of the incredible quality of this car or it's owner or restorers.

Thanks to you Giles, for the nice comment. You and many others here have taught me many things and I still have much to learn. Isn't that what this forum is supposed to be about? Questioning things, sharing opinions/facts so we all come away from here knowing more than when we first arrived.

I work in a mechanical engineering group as a tech. I sent an email at work (and I know these guys well) with a little joking jab (inuendo) that after further investigation it was revealed that it was the electrical groups fault that we had endured an equipment failure and we should not be held responsible or down time charged to us. My boss went postal on me for pointing fingers at people and not trying to foster a good relationship with other departments. After all the smoke cleared...Hey, I said I was kidding.

Tom and Captain Ass are 2 people that over the years have shown me that they are as knowledgeable as anybody. I have seen Tom's work in person a few times and it is TOP NOTCH without a doubt. Tom makes every effort to be accurate and true to the car. If I ever have enough coin to truly have my car properly restored Tom is one of 2 people that I would 100% trust to do the job without the total Bull **** that comes with having a car restored. My respect is not easily gotten because I to am an Pompous Ass myself, just ask any of my friends...Here is my totally undisturbed trim tag.

Greg, I just wiped the beer can ring off it from this afternoon, but no roach clips to the best of my knowledge have ever rested there.

I think that transamric hadn't been hanging out in the forums much lately because if he was,he would likely know that said cowl tag in dispute was on a car that was restored by another forum member.......
