I have not been able to confirm this, but I also believe that the Firebird Girl was “discovered” at the photo shoot for the 1983 full line brochure. Natalie was one of the models at the photo shoot of the 1983 line-up for the full line brochure. When it was time to take photos of a black Trans Am, Natalie was selected to model with the car. Jim Graham, Pontiac’s director of merchandising decided to do something a little different, and had Natalie wear a snug fitting leather outfit. The combination was electric. Jim Graham took in the scene and said “We are going to have a Firebird Girl”.

If I recall Natalie worked in the Pontiac Plant and was discovered by Jim Graham, don't recall how but he always found good looking girls. She was not a model at the time but probably got some exposure from the calendar. All Field people were assigned to recover the calendars from the dealers and turn them into the Zone Ofc. I know that a few never got turned in.

It all seems so tame today, doesn't it? Banning a calendar...

I believe the problem started with her being an hourly employee in the Plant. Jim Graham was infamous for recruiting good looking women.

Here are a few pics of Pontiac dealer promotional items. Includes the 4 page Firebird Gifts brochure,Firebird warrenty book supplement for customers,Promo press kit , poster, the infamous calender and an inside pic from June 1983. I remember Pontiac sent one calender with an order form for purchasing calenders to each dealer and less then a week later our zone office reps were being sent out to 'collect' back the calenders. They sent the reps and later sales/service managers with sign off and check list to get them back. Another example of Pontiac trying to be on the edge with something different following there recent(at the time) new image statement and GM slapping Pontiac's hand.
Natalie Carrol I believe was the 'Direct Connection' poster girl for Mopar(Chrysler) in 1982.

Pontiac, rather GM, and racing, what a farce...what a sick excuse..in 2006 Pontiac introduced the Solstice, which was raced by SCCA teams all over and was Handily beating the Snots out of the whole class of competition.. and other classes too. In 2007 GM DESIGN, who helped design the car had their OWN Solstices racing in SCCA Events...GM Design , right on the side of the car... Who said GM dont go racin?>??
