ok I understand the rules and do not dis agree at all. Hear is my issue with the guys doing the tech of the cars . I am sure some of us are in the same boat as I am. You race a few times a year in the low to tens and have to have this that and the other thing for safety. You go thru tech and they break you balls about well next month you belts are out of date. Well on the other hand never look at the ballancer or the trans shield or peek his head under the car to see if there is a loop around the drive shaft. God for bid they ask you to start the car in gear or ask you to shut the car of with the master shut off. I have an issue with cars running lets say 12.50 and want to put a 5 point harness in there car . Why should they have to change it every two every two years when it is ok to run your 40 years old mustang with 40 year old belts. My point here is why is only the belts and helmet only this they zone on.

NHRA is cutting there own throat! They have already made a ton of people leave the sport due to the constant and un-needed safty changes in a lot of cases, like with the dates on safty straps and such!
Without the money/funds from the people who leave and the lack of new racers coming in once they see the rules, then NHRA has to charge the remaining racers more each year and such them dry! In 5 to 10 years NHRA will be fully on the way south with no one to blame but them and no way out of the hole they have dug. My Dad used to say "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging" but NHRA will not!!!

I understand what you are saying and agree with it BUT you have to have a set of RULES to follow to WEED out the IDIOT that would NEVER change His or Her belts or helmets no matter how BAD they look or what condition they are in. It just pisses me off me off to get my chassie RE-CERTED every few years when nothing has changed or my racing License updated (Physical), now I have to get a EKG.................talk about SUCKS. Like I said its to WEED out the IDIOTS that have no COMMON SENCE...........oh yea its also a Money KICK BACK thing with major Sanction Bodies NHRA/IHRA or what ever!
![]() Now I have to get back to putting my GTO together for Norwalk, there is this Firebird/T1000 that starting to PISS me off!!! LOL! GTO George |

I personally like it when they go over the cars more thoroughly. After all, I may not know the car in the lane next to me. I've raced cars at ten or so different tracks and the tech guy at Wichita years ago is the only one who ever got down on his hands and knees and looked underneath. Jim

Like to run faster then 10's, but to much work(cage & diaper, etc) and $ for a mostly street/some strip car.
But agree the belt deal is the only one that PULLS MY KNOB! Helmet to unless it's had an impack.
