Hello, I have a 67 GTO that needs work in the rear axle area.
I have some arms with bushings lined up. My question is regarding the rear springs. I have looked at different sources for springs (online, year one, opgi, etc) and am looking for advice on where to get the best for stock springs / mounts. What is there are shot and prev owner added air shocks to get by. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx. |

You can find a new set of moog rear coil springs on eBay for $65 or so. I bought upper insulators from our host.

I got everything for my suspension, front and back, bushings, springs, shocks etc. from
Rock Auto. Everything is moog. Believe me, I shopped and with the discount coupon (5%) it was the best deal out there. Plus, I got everything in 2 days! |

Bob,
Thanks for the help. Since I am new to this site can you help me with who the host is? I believe in supporting them because this is a great site. Plus appears they are trusted. Also, from what I have been reading should I order convertible rear springs? They apparently add some height. I am fine with that as long as no spring modification is required. Thanks again for your help. Larry |

Performance Years is the host of this forum. Click on the Home link as Don pointed out, or just click here. Be sure to bookmark it. If you're restoring a GTO, you'll find a lot of what you need at their online store. Also, I gave the wrong page number and price in my previous post. I was looking at the wrong catalog. My apologies.

Page 175 in the catalog, $79. They're only showing the convertible spring, which is what most use to replace the stock springs in their hardtops and coupes, unless they want to increase the ride height several inches.

if you want to really jack it up use the same year olds vista cruiser springs. will raise it quite a bit over stock height. great for a gasser look. put them on the front and you will need longer bolts to get front end aligned right. used them years ago to clear a set of mickey thompsons slicks

I have a 66 vert. Theres talk here about using vert springs in a hard top to give the car some lift. So what do I use to get some lift if I have a vert? Wagon springs? I need to buy springs this week.

I bought 66 tempest wagon springs and then put in a 3/4" spacer on each side so the wheels would fit better.

Or for a custom height you can have Eaton Spring custom build a set. I used them on my 67 to get the front where I want it. Irgoatmike

I'll bet mine is riding on the original front springs. But the right height is ok. I wouldn't want it any higher.
