Depends, I guess on your goals?
I went with roller cam and couldn't believe the power increase. Any performance cam would wake up the SD a bunch. The original cam left a lot of HP on the table. If you're wanting to keep the original distributor gear, it would also dictate what to get? Better muffler setup, bigger cam and the SD will blow about anything away with the same specs.

I would never rebuild with the lame stock cam. Too many better choices out there. I would go roller also.

Ok, I have a new H-o racing cam, HC-62, that i was thinking about using along with Rhoads lifters.
Years ago I used the Hc63 cam with regular lifters in an SD clone t/a but that car was a 4speed, 3.90 rear and no A/C. That combo would tear your head off. The HC-62 isn't AS agressive as the 63 but Rhoads lifters should tone down the idle and increase vacuum for a improved overall driveability. A roller cam is not a bad deal either. |

I like the conversion. I've even considered this on mine but.............
Didn't Volo have a red A/C car with a 4 speed? |

Neat 74. Doesn't bother me since it comes with the original tranny. And it's about 20 miles away. Why aren't there any 73s in my neighborhood?

Good looking SD TA.
In the Registry, it shows it had 4.10 gears installed at dealer, nothing about the 4 speed. AD doesn't say anything about the gears. Wonder if it still has them in it?

Mine had 4:10's put in under warranty-imagine that! Phil's twin SD also had gears put in 3:73's.Constantin Pontiac. The 4:10's were a bit much but with L-60's were ok.

Seller doesn't mention whether its the original tranny. He only photographs the W8 block code. Otherwise, looks like a pretty nice original car.

Running the HC-03 w/ rhodes in my 74 currently. Cam pulls hard, but lifters are too noisy. Crane had better fast bleed lifters.
Thinking about going through motor again and installing a roller cam along with 4" stroke crank and HO intake. Seeing how it reacts.
