Default comp 290-B

Want to run a 461 in a 68 firebird, Forged Mahle pistons eagle 4.25 crank, eagle 6.8 rods zero decked block ported 6S iron heads milled to 95 CC flowed at 230 on the intake 9.5 compression and ported stock iron intake with recalibrated 800 quadrajet. Turbo 400 with loose 3500 covertor with 3.7 gears in a 8.5 rear.this vehicle is strictly a weekend warrior just something to have a bit of fun with, my question is will a comp 290-B be too much cam for this combo.

Thanks

I'd run it.

That -or- the Crower #60311 solid.

Two different approaches with the same basic end result.

Either way,be sure to run good valvespings, stiff pushrods, and if @ all possible,a stud girdle.

You got plenty stall & gear for solid cams like that, some may say the CR is a bit "soft" for these sorta cam,but that's all personal POV,in that respect the 290b6 will be slightly more forgivng than the #60311 cam,but the 290b6 will also have a rougher idle than the #60311 would, but that's all personal preference based too.

Should be right at/just over 500 hp.

FWIW
