Default Engine detailing

I've have been picking away at my engine bay in the 69 Sprint and I could use a bit of help. This car has a mostly virgin engine bay with original paint on the engine (despite a rebuild years ago), matching carb, air cleaner etc. The real eyesores are the following;

Ugly blue plug wires, blue distributor cap, incorrect and chromed generic coil bracket and exhaust shroud looks home made.

Apart from the shroud which I would guess is sprint specific I guess the rest are the same as a 1bbl? I was thinking of using correct V8 plug wires and cutting them to length, did the OHCwires look like the V8 ones?

Any help in terms of having leads, advice or having these items for sale would be great. I'm not a concours guy but I'd like to have a stock look to the engine bay.

You can buy a # 1971324 OE black dist cap for decent dollars at ebay. The spark plug wires I think I bought them through NAPA but that was many years ago. Black in color and IIRC the set came with the correct wire holder thingy. 69 Sprints used a unique coil that had the bracket built in. It sounds like you are using an oil filled unit that requires a separate bracket. You should be able to find a galv steel bracket at any auto store for cheap. We will need a picture of the exhaust shield to see what you are describing.

The AC Delco 506B plug wires and two different AC Delco distributor caps are listed on rock auto parts.

i was gonna say, my 68 tempest has a coil like that

If youre gonna chop up some wires, i have boxes of NOS plug wires i can probably come up with the right insulators and the right dates... especially for a 69

I really appreciate all the help guys, I'm plugging away at it.

One thing, I've noticed on most of the detailed OHC that the oil tube is painted engine color but mine was clearly black. Any thoughts?

It should be all Pontiac metallic Blue.
Also note that the '69 lost the detailed paint of the Cam Housing Fins & Lettering.

Ill see if I can dig mine out and check

I do but I've never really studied it. I'll try to have a look, I'm bringing the car to the house this weekend, I'll post some better photos.

FWIW;
One thing I've learned over the years with this stuff is never say never, so it is possible.
But I will add that all the engines that have come through here and it's been way to many 90% wore orig paint and all were blue all over, other then the funky Yellow & Red ones I've come across clearly bad choices by past owners
And I'll add that in my files of images few if any of what appear to be original engines are also all blue.

My first owner 69 was repainted by me (wrong color) and it was all blue then.
