What do you need help with Bob?

Thanks for checking Mike. I have half a dozen or so loose connectors coming of the dash harness and it's driving me crazy not knowing what they are for so I can get all OCD and label them. I'm sure somewhere in the mix is power windows, power locks, intermediate harness, rear speaker harness, et cetera. I'll post some pictures of them. Darrell will probably know exactly where they go anyway, but I really have this problem with getting everything accounted for and identified.

I also have one broken pink wire....I'll stick some pictures up.

Wire number one is a broken pink with black stripe. It is bundled with another pink with black stripe wire that goes to the flashers and a purple wire. Should there be two pink with black stripe wires connected to the same terminal on the flasher control?

One pink/black wire will also connect to the reverse switch. I have also seen the pink/black wire as a part of the tach harness that plugs into the center of the under dash fuse block.

(And yes that yellow wire by the distributor is the shaker solenoid wire that shouldn't be on a Formula wiring harness - I believe it was T/A only but the wiring harness makers don't know this)

Yes, there should be two together at the connector housing.

Steve, it was cheaper to have it on all wiring harnesses for the year/model. It was just taped/tucked out of the way.

Thanks so much for all the help on wire number one. The next one is a single gray wire with a black connector. It comes out near the radio and steering column wires, and it has a very short lead. My best guess is that it connects to the windshield antennae harness.

My old bronze 70 Formula 400 had standard gauges and I wanted to convert them to rally gauges, so I bought a set of eBay. The dash harness came with the gauges, but they were out of a car with an automatic trans with a floor shift. There was a long single gray wire with a bulb socket on the end that plugged into the dash harness right near the radio. The long gray wire was for the shift indicator light on the console shifter. Since my car was a manual trans, I just unplugged the wire leading to the console. Maybe the gray wire shown in your picture is not used in your application.

ES13 - That seems very probably. It is dropping out of the harness with another gray wire that goes to the radio lamp terminal and as 77CAM points out the cig lighter lamp also has a gray wire. I also noticed this morning that the lamp for the heater controls and fuel/volt gauges are also on a gray wire feed.

Gray is typically a lighting power wire.

my knee-jerk reaction was that it was for underdash lighting... so shift indicator bulb seems quite feasable.

Confirming that the gray wire is used when you have an automatic with console.

Bob, Mike and the others are correct. I have that same wire in my 74, and it connects to a gray wire feeding the light in my Automatic console gear select indicator.

We are batting a thousand so far. Four or five more to go. Here is number three. As you can see it comes right out of the fuse block and has a green, blue and brown wire. Based on the schematic 77CAM posted and the location I am thinking it must be the dimmer switch.

A little break from wiring. Got the glovebox door refinished. I bought the original stickers from Ames and wasn't happy, so I bought round two from Jim Osborn. As feared the stickers were the same. I was able to completely remove the old stickers intact and took them to FastSigns hoping they could scan and reproduce a more accurate version, but the transfer material they had was much more of a vinyl and much whiter.

On the tire decal the repro is much bigger than the original. I trimmed it down with a razor blade and it looks better, but many of the fonts are wrong. On the maintenance decal it was the right size, but the white border is much smaller than the original. Here's a few pictures. If anyone is willing to attempt more accurate reproductions I am willing to send you the original decals. I painted the door with SEM Landau Black.

Not that it would make a difference, but I notice the P/N on the tire decal is different than the original.

Yeah, I wonder if Jim Osborn would be interested in the originals so that he could make some corrections and edits to his artwork for these stickers? I would suspect that he has a big inventory already printed....
