Convert the frame to clamshell mounts, install clamshell brackets on engine. Problem solved.

I have Mity mounts in my 455 TA, less than a year old and my hood scoop comes within a quarter inch of my hood on normal acceleration. They're coming out! Going to the clam shell conversion.

Mity mounts have 2, $50 bolts installed in cheap offshore mounts, other wise known as the $100 mistake.........................

A 3/8" turnbuckle from the left head to the frame will do the same thing, installed in an hour for less than $10, plus it can be adjusted to have any amount of free play you want, if any. It worked very well for me however even though it's extremely functional, easy to install and cheap, some people won't use one. That's their choice.

x2 on the mity mounts.

got a pic of your turnbuckle? not much space for one in a 2nd gen bird, espcially with power steering.

Here's a picture of one I saw a few months ago, I'm not impressed with the Mity mounts I put in at the beginning on the summer.
