Default Anyone else have a manager they'd like to take a dump on?

When I was in management I understood one of my functions was to be the firewall between idiots and my group, not part of the idiocy --

Thanks for listening.

Please explain. There has to be more to the story than what's been revealed.

This is true, but I'm an Engineer so I'm correct by default.

Long story short, our work environment is awash with outsourcing and account groups pieced together after massive layoffs the past few years. This has lead to our engineering group having to sift thru nearly endless mazes of inaccurate information and incompetency to accomplish tasks in the same time we did previously. Seems so few have any initiative anymore and the work ethic of those in off-shore groups -- forget about it. My manager hasn't grasped this reality yet. We simply can’t do our job and other people’s jobs in the same amount of time -- at least not with the same accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness we take pride in.

You're not alone. We're being asked to do the same work with less people. Our training department has become a joke. And yet they come down even harder on us when mistakes are made. Go figure.
And to answer the title question - Yes, several

Difficult to find a new balance with changes like that. If I didn't work from home I probably would have bailed long ago. Now -- if I start looking and find another wfh gig --

You work from home?
And you are having problems with the 'manager'?
Aren't you the manager?

It's a Brave New World, John. Our group extends across the U.S., Brazil, into Malaysia, India and beyond. Half of U.S. is wfh now. Some of Malaysia and India is.

That's what I was faced with for the last 15-20 years of my career. Although I didn't retire until I was 68, I would have kept working if it hadn't gotten so bad.

I'm guessing you work for Dell or Intel. I had my job outsourced back in 1997. Engineering was full of idiots, racism, harassment, and discrimination. Now I work for the state and the same is still there but add nepotism and old boys to the mix
