Default 65 GP brake cylinder size help, please

My left rear brake is spewing brake fluid. I attempted to order rebuild kit online and got questioned? this size or that? Like maybe 1 1/2 or 1 and 5/8 etc?

I thought this was a simple swap repair, Is it more complicated? I can't see myself taking the rear hub apart and using a tape measure to justify a 1/8" difference.

Anybody know the real answer? This purchase is keeping me off the road, cause I can't get stuck in the middle and leave the car setting outside waiting on me to get it right.

rear is a 15/16" bore and is a real common wheel cylinder, used on a lot of 1/2 ton chevy trucks. you should be able to get a whole new wheel cylinder for $5 ($4 at rock auto)

Fronts are 1 3/16 bore and are different LH and RH and unique to the big pontiacs.

Like Jayhawk said put a new one in it. Wouldnt be a bad idea to at least do both rear or better all four

Dorman P/N 's:

Rear W51081 ($3.96 at rock auto)
L Front W37046 ($31.79 at rock auto)
R Front W37047 ($31.79 at rock auto)

Fronts are 65-66 full size Pontiacs only so if you see fronts that have a lot of chevy applications I don't think they will work.

I believe our host Performance Years has them also. I like to get my Pontiac parts from a Pontiac vendor when I can. They support the hobby so I support them.

I find it handy to reference NAPA's website when it comes to questions like this..they tend to offer a little more technical detail and sometimes better photos than the chain store websites.

Looks like I reposted this question, but 15/16" wasn't one of my choices..........

Exclamation Oh, oh, domino...

If you have the extra dough, you may be better to replace the wheel cylinders entirely.

Of course, doing so will probably lead to new lines in the back. And then new hoses (all 3). Then a new master cylinder and a booster rebuild. ...cheap insurance, in my opinion...
