Thanks for the reply. I was also wondering about the 544128 intake, which is the Nascar 4bbl intake. Did u every run with it. I love the way they look with that reinforcement bar by the heat area. Just realized that the bath tub intake casting number ends in"128".

Welllll..I blew that one!!!! I never used one, had several intakes & only 1 carb over the years.

I have a picture of the Royal 62 when it was in Eaton Ohio. He claimed it had aluminum doors.....I cant verify that either way. Been 25 years since I was there. It had a flywheel rusted to the front seat. I pried it loose & put it on the floor.

Also remembered that blk/gold car was the first time I ever saw the lighter GP grilles in a Catalina. Good thinking.

Post up the pic of the Royal Car please when you have time, I knew the car was over in Ohio for years but never saw what it looked like prior to resto, know some guys who did thou when they tried to buy it unsuccessfully. guess Scott Tiemann or Bob K could tell us for sure if the doors on it are aluminum or not.

PJ see where you owned the Aluminum front end off the Stan Long 63 Lemans SD coupe, I know its in Florida now, do you remember who you got it from? was it the guy who owned the car at the time? never heard much follow up on who the car belong to before it was discovered on Ebay for sale.

I knew Fred Davisson back in 67-68-70 time frame. He was from Tallmage Ohio-near Akron. He had the black car (I thought it was in the garage the first time I went there-spring 68 maybe)and a mist green 62 SD car(that could have been 69-70)-could that have been Tyree's car repainted?. The green car had no title and he told me the guy was in jail. He tried to sell me the green car-no money.I also remember Nick Codrea was the other partner at one time.He also had apartner previous to Nick.He sold me my4spd 63 GP with alum. rear bumper-don't believe it was original.The car had no powerstr brakes etc.

The Tyree car started life as a beige car,was painted white by Jess and Turner painted it gold before it left Fullerton CA when he bought it.I believe he repainted it blk when it was in FLA and then sold it.I can give him a call and ask if he was aware of any other color.Tom

I finally located a picture of Royals '62 car when it was in Eaton, Ohio. I have that guys name somewhere. Last time I visited, he had had a heart attack wasnt able to return to work (owned a gas station as I recall). Seems like he must have been about 5-6 years older than me. (75 in Jan. '014)

PJ, his name was Tex Miller, he passed away a few years back, car has been restored to Royal look of 62, belongs to Bob Knudsen of Idaho now.

Used to see a black 421 SD and blue SD 389 at Quaker City, Ohio in the late 60's. The black one said Arlen Vanke on it but not sure it was actually his at the time.

Speaking of Super Duty's. Everyone has probably seen the pictures in McCarthy's book of the SD wagon that ran out of Al Hodges Pontiac in Cocoa, Florida. Also a picture of a 62 or 3 SD Catalina in front of a typical 60's CB house. I spoke with a guy who used to work for the Pontiac Dealership that evolved from Al Hodges. He spoke to the owner at the time about Al Hodges. The owner knew him and some of the folks in that picture with the wagon. However he lost track of them many years ago. He has also passed away not too long ago.

Heard stories back in the early 80's about Aluminum Pontiac manifolds/headers that showed up at a machine/engine shop I did business with back then. Also still hear "rumors" of a SD car and parts hidden away near that area. Anyone know what became of the wagon they ran?

I bought an aluminum fendered '63 wagon somewhere near Dayton many years ago. May have had an aluminum bumper on. Not sure about a roof rack. No eng, set up for 4sped auto. Pictures here somewhere.

I had it about 6months when my daughter graduated from high school in the late '70's. She & her sisters & 2 friends asked if I would give them an engine/trans combo & a radio so they could put it together & drive it to Fla. for a week on the beach, intending to sleep the 5 of them in the wagon. Fla's beaches all have showers & toilet facilities, at least the state operated ones.

I laid out the stuff, opened a garage stall & in about a week, interrupted by many requests for advice, they had it all going. I put on new tires & battery, a spare & jack in it & off they went, the trip part was evidently eventless as they were back in 2 weeks.

Sold the car the way they left it a couple years later, kept the aluminum stuff, Randy W. ended up with that.

SD tempest did not run cast exhaust manifolds of any kind.They used stamped steel manifolds into a single exhaust.Tom

PJ or Tom, was reading a thread in the lobby, called "up for auction" where they were discussing a 61 Ventura that Ronnie Sox supposedly raced in 61, in the thread, there a link to a thread from 2004 where a PJ is talked about owning a black and gold 62, (which he confirmed in this thread) and it went to upstate New York, then to Ohio (Fred Davisson) while in NY the car was named "kemosabi" ok, question I have is Ken Calicino bought a 62 SD Catalina black or brown with a gold top that has Kemosabi on the deck lid, and "big Thunder" on the doors, out of upstate NY a few years back along with a 62 SD Gran Prix, most likely the same guy,as he'd had both the SD's for along time, could this car be your old one or another one this guy had at the same time or later on?

The car I had is the one Alton has. I dont know if the other was owned by the same New Yorker, Richard Compton. Someone could ask Kenny C. about his serial, mine was 362P56322. Knew it by heart as I had to use it when I wanted to buy any SD parts from Pontiac Factory.

I never committed the Seldon car serial as that car went to Dick Smith, locally. I ordered anything he wanted using my serial. Once bought him all new front end aluminum as his tow bar came off & the car drifted into a tree. Both front fenders, core support & hood, $188.00. We straightened the bumper & his wife painted it black, car was silver to match his 62GP tow car. Have an early picture of him & the front end of the car in my garage in 1964. It is a tiny pict., 1 1/4" sq. A local said he can blow it up, waiting on him so I can upload it here.

I have a dandy 8x10 of the black & gold car, #322, but it is all foggy looking. Can anyone tell me how to get it 'enhanced' so I can post it here???

I did purchase my two 62 SD cars from Richard Compton from Ovid NY. My 62 SD Cat is #144 in Pete`s book vin 76778 named Big Thunder and the owner/driver Walter Dow was nick-named Kemosabi he owned it before Richard Compton, and my 62 SD Grand Prix is #168 vin 7492. Third pic is circa 1972 at Utica-Rome dragstrip and last pic is when the car was new in Rouses Point NY. KC
