Default Flight Position Website

Here is an interesting website I came across.
Shows real time position of any flight around the world.

I watch my daughter's flights when she's up there. Cool to see the path they take and when her plane will be flying right over our house, since we're in one of the runway patterns.

Passenger, or does she work for an airline?

My son is a pilot for Skywest/Delta out of Chicago.

Is this same one or similar they use on national news for their flight segment?

They have one for boats too, including pleasure/fishing boats you can zero in on and click and see pictures of the boat, where it was recently....inter coastal and ocean.

Been using Flightaware.com for a few years now, not aware of this one. I marked it for later. Thanks for sharing it.

As my wife flies to work over 45 weeks per year and I have to pick her up at the airport on her return, I've enjoyed having the "FlightView" app on my phone (free app).

No need to fire up the computer to find out if her flight is actually in the air. The last leg of her trip is only a 20 minute (actual flight time) hop and it takes me about 20 minutes to get to the airport.

Highly recommend it!

Similar tracking site for marine vessels....different colored icons for different class of vessels.

You can click on more info for last port of call, national flag, even a picture, vessel details......all that.

Makes it hard to fish when you are at a Doctors Appointment.....lol...* that means j/k...

Keep in mind that these sites use a combination of instrument flight plans and radar data to track flights. Most of the time, you won't see little planes like mine trackable on the sites (unless we file IFR). Same with the marine vessels. That's why you don't see every small boat that's floating around.
