So I ended up going with the OER K89210 and I'm really not sure about this shade. I understand it has a greenish hue to the blue but to me these is almost no blue to this color at all, it basically a teal green. I know it's tough to judge paint colors over the internet, but does this look right?[IMG]

So I had a couple cans of new OER K89210 I purchased for the Black Car fluffing. I sprayed a test strip on the valve cover which I had painted with the same OER paint about two years ago. It does appear to be more green than the previous batch. See below.

Thanks for the sample spray-out. That's looks similar to what I'm getting. Not sure if I just go with it or find something else before I drop this engine back in. I'd really like it to be as close to correct as possible. Grrrr!

In the pictures the aluminum intake manifold is painted. I thought they are natural aluminum in color. Have I been wrong in thinking they are unpainted?

Here's another picture with a smear of of the Scott Tiemann formula added in the mix.
A question for you painters in the crowd - I have about two-thirds of a quart left of the Tiemann mix in PPG Delstar. It's about 3 years old and when I opened it there was about a 1/4" of spongy set up paint on top that I had to remove. After shaking and stirring the remainder, the paint seems fine and the color looks good. Will this paint still be ok to use?

Yes and do a spray out and get it scanned so you have the formula

1972 455 H.O. engine paint
BWB, as usual I am late to the party..am I to understand that the center spay paint is a recent O.E.R. paint can purchase?...if so it looks awesome!!...really that hue to me looks spot on ,especially considering a paint can..I want to fluff my engine too!!...can you tell me who you ordered it from and as usual one step behind you!...thanks TA72

BEWARE!
OER apparently has changed the formula for this paint. I ordered another 2 cans thinking may I just got a bad batch. My original can was dated June of 2015, this can is dates September of 2015. It appears the correct color quit being made sometime in 2014 or early 2015. Here are some spray outs I did.

Mike, I thought your engine was already painted with OEM Paints OE62210. Did you not like it?

OEM Paints still lists Pontiac Teal Blue #62210 as a product that's available directly from OEM. I have a full can left for my car and think it is as close to my original parts color as anything I've seen. It's somewhere around $65 a can with a 3 can minimum so not cheap but for 2 or more guys needing some it might be worth it. http://www.oempaints.com/

The picture is not a perfect representation of the true color but it gives a pretty good idea what I ended up with after my color match.

Heres Mikes motor, I had this paint made from a spray can color I had from the 80s that matched my old 71 perfect. It was a 33,000 original mile car and it wasn't quite as green as the motor but it looked as if the hot spots were greener than other spots. Although the color on the engine is a hair greener than my spray can, I would say its very close. However, I am getting the color tweaked slightly to match the old spray can I have which has long been discontinued. I will post a pic of the spray out from the can when I get it back. And im sure all cameras and lighting will make them look a little different in pictures.

Bob, Scotts new formula is better since it he's got the shean down dead nuts. The one he had a few years ago had a bit to much semi-gloss going on.
