It is. I bought my cable from PY. I need to go back and check my records to see what I paid for it. I am thankful that I only have minor problems to remedy now. Like Andre said, "The road to restoration is long and not for the faint of heart!"

Just an FYI....When I determined that the cable was the problem, I called and they sold me the 'good' one for the price difference only. I tossed the 'bad' one.
Like I said, I can't remember now which vendor I got it from. I'm thinking right now that it was Ames.

It has been nice driving the car but I haven't done anything about the shifter cable yet and I still have to finish the A/C.
We have our local car show next Saturday and I am going to show mine but not enter it in the judging mainly because it is not finished under the hood.

The car show was yesterday and attendance was down due to the threat of rain. It misted a little about 10am but the steady rain held off to about 2:30. I left just as it started. I bought a set of trim rings from a fellow PYer and hope to get them this week.
And, my wife gave me money for my birthday which I put towards a radio and speakers. I bought some Sony 4x6 four way speakers that I think I can mount under the front seats. If they fit I will put the radio in the glove box.
I bought two pair of speakers with the plan to face one pair forward and one pair towards the back seat. If they don't work I am going to give up on having any music at all.

I would be interested to see how the under seat speakers work out. I put mine in the typical location for rear speakers attached the backs of the rear seats and after installing the convertible boot it blocks out about 75-80% of the sound------no good.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! This car is fighting me every time I try to make a modification. I installed speakers under the front seats in an effort to update the sound system and, while they work there is just no base. I had to go with a 4x6" speakers and then it was a very tight fit. I built enclosures that would hold two speakers each. One aimed to the front and one to the rear. I didn't take a lot of time with the radio setup so maybe I can get some base out of it.
I took the wife out of town today so I wasn't able to do anything. Maybe when I get off work one night this week I'll get to it.

Take some pics of that setup if you can Phil. I'd like to see how you accomplished the installation. I'd never even thought of putting speakers under the seats.

I don't really have anywhere else to put them on my car. Once I get them where I like them I will take some pics. But, believe me the enclosures are not very pretty! In fact if they were alive they would look like me!

Ugly or not Phil, it's not like your going to look at them under the seats everyday. As long as they give good sound that's all that counts.

I am going to re do them. When I sit in the seat I can feel the box. If I could get enough base out of them that could be a good thing, especially for any passengers of the fairer sex!

Yea but the guys who put 22" rims on our cars did.

I haven't had time to do any more on the stereo install but I did get the trim rings cleaned up and installed. They are not perfect and they are not "correct" since they are from a 68 but they look a lot better than the beat up ones I had on there.

Well, if you didn't tell anyone they were for 68 then no one would know. LOL

The 67 had a brushed finish on the wide part of the ring. Other than that they are the same. I was given a 64 or 65 rearend and I may install it so I can use the year one rally IIs.
But, for the time being these will do. One concern I have is about the age of the tires. They are over 10 years old but had zero miles on them when I got the car.

fyrffytr1...year one is retooling the rallye II wheels. I'm guessing they will offer them in 5 or 5 1/2 rear space so you won't need to change to the narrower rear. Don't use the old tires. Bad things could happen that would cost more to repair than just buying new tires. Good luck.

I may be taking the interior back out to do some work. I may send my shifter back to Hurst and have them restore it and I need to get under the dash to find some rattles.
Maybe Year One will have the new wheels out by then. If not I will spring for some new tires for my original wheels.

Keep me in mind if you want to part with the '68 trim rings in the future Phil. I've got some rings on mine that I don't believe are correct for any Pontiac.
