Default 1971 Pontiac Ventura Assistance Needed

Hello All,

I recently acquired a 1971 Pontiac Ventura and I am trying to gather info, data and specs as to how the car rolled off the assembly line. This car is pretty immaculate and seems to be an all original car. My Vin # is 213271W222000 ... I can not locate the protector plate nor can I find any information online about these cars. Why is there such a scarcity ??

The Ventura I have is equipped with a 307 c.i. factory 3 speed hurst shifter (was this an option/is this correct??) It has the Morrokide all leather like upholstery but no custom steering wheel or no remote body colored side view mirror. It does have the anti theft locking column. It has buckets seat disc brakes. I haven't had a chance to pull the vin off the block or look for rear end codes.

Any and all help would be much appreciated.
Thank you,

Jose Acosta

You should be able to get most of the information you are looking for on your car from PHS.

Welcome to the forum. You came to the right place, although this Ventura section doesn't get the traffic some of the others do.
If you're not planning on ordering the PHS for it right away, decoding the Body Trim Tag would be a good place to start. Also called cowl tag, it should be on the driver's side to the right of the brake booster.
Post a photo or copy all the numbers/digits off it and post it here.

Lots of knowledgable folks here that can help.

Default Picture of Body Trim Tag

First off thank you WildBill79 for the information. I will be ordering a packet from PHS soon. I somehow suspect that the car I own was originally a sprint model car.

Lightfoot thank you as well. I have attached the photo of the Body Trim Tag.

Thank you,

Jose Acosta

I have a lot of information at my site here:

...although the Ventura II doesn't show up in a lot of 1971 factory literature.

Built third week of March.
Original color was Quezal Gold.

I'm digging around to find what the 767 trim code designates.

That VIN is really cool. If I ever had a classic car that the serial ended in 'double triples' I'd never be able to part with it. (I'm a numbers kind of guy)
Your VIN ending '000' is definately unique.

If you look closer to the trim tag it's not 000 it's 088.
