Default New project: 1972 Grandville. Need Hood

Got a new project...I'm in need of a hood for 1972 Pontiac Grandville. I have to admit, I'm new to the big cars, riddin in them, not worked on them. Is the Catalina's and Bonnivilles the same? And, If ya know where I can get one. Would be real nice. Thanks guys, Mike

Cats and Bonnies are the same for the hood fenders and doors.

Default 72 hood

Mike, I have a 72 Grandville that I picked up last year for the engine. It has a lot of good parts. I know the hood is straight and can check tomorrow for any rust. I would take $100 for the hood, or if you could use the complete front clip I would take $250 minus the radiator. I'm in Kansas City, probably at least 15 hours away. Thanks, Dan

Default Hood available in Talledega, Al

Couple of notes-

The 71-72 Catalina fenders and front grill header panel do NOT interchange with the 71-72 Grandville/Bonneville- but the 72' hood is the same for all 3.

Pontiac shortened the Catalina by 2 inches, taken directly from the sheet metal at the front of the front fender (I have no idea why they decided this was necessary!!!) - which means the front grill header panel sits 2 inches closer to the firewall. Pontiac left the hood the same, so to accommodate that the front grill header is notched 2" at the back instead of being even across. I have examples of both, can provide pictures if needed.

Just FYI, another PY Online contributor (ThePontiacman@yahoo.com) has a '72 hood in Talledega, Al- I've gotten some other parts from the same '72, see his info at:

His contact info is:

Mr. Preston Grant IV

He can also be reached by phone, but email me or him first for it- he may not want his phone number published on these web boards (but he'll email it to you)

Hey neighbor: I live in Leasburg. Too bad your car isn't a '73 Grand Ville because I have two parts cars.
