Default New Pet

I went to the Humane Society on Thursday and picked out a new cat. The laying on the floor picture was the first day in my house. The other picture was today, showing he is getting comfortable enough in my house to be playing around. The old cat does not yet understand that this is a new friend and playmate. The new one seems to have a great personality, but he is really frisky. I'm leaning towards naming him J, short for J D, which is short for Juvenile Delinquent.

He is 7 months old and weighs 8.5 pounds.

If he keeps getting into trouble, that would be a fitting name. Cats are awesome!

Smile Cats are NOT pets...

YOU are the pet.

Dogs have owners.

Cats have staff.

Good for you, Jim.

Teach him some tricks while he's still young and eager.

Sure they do. I have a video of my cat climbing a brick wall on command. I trained another cat to play fetch and play goalie. I trained another to jump through a hoop (my arms). They love that stuff when they're young.

Are you teaching him to roll toilet paper up? Glad you when to the Humane Society. The salem in my salem 1912 is for my first cat. Now on my second "a stray". Good luck with the little guy.

Cats love training. Mine has trained me to give him a good scratching at bedtime.

As a cat lover and animal lover I would like to thank you for giving him a good home. Our cats either come from the Humane Society or are strays that found us.

Kudos to you for saving that cat!

I've always been a dog person. Not for any particular reason, we had a dog growing up and when my wife and I got married I inherited her dog. My 10 year old daughter wants a cat very badly but my wife is allergic to cats so that's not happening.

I've always respected the "cat-itude" of cats. They frigging rule the world. I love how they walk around with that F you attitude. In the real world they are about 15-20 lbs but in their minds they walk around like a 700 lb Bengal Tiger.

New to me, used to the world. My old cat is starting to come around, or he's run out of the capability to hiss anymore. It's interesting in that the kitty has the same energy and approach that the older one had when he was young. The young one just doesn't take no (or hissing) for an answer.

Congrats OMT.

FWIW - when we adopted the 2nd (Black & White named Thor, only answers to TJ) from the SPCA to keep the 1st (Tigger) company, he - Tigger - came down with the "flu" that the newest became infected with at the pound.

IIRC - it lasted a few weeks, with them both sneezing, mucus noses, and flu like symptoms. So, keep an eye on your older cat. Our Vet said it was typical and gave both a shot that cleared them up PDQ.

Check this thread out to get an idea of what ours look like, simular cats, in a recent commercial. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=737368

They are kind enough to allow us to share their home with them...they are great company (see below).
